I'm glad they got the name back, but I hope they can improve the longevity of the game. Not its actual length, but how well it ages. I loved it the first time through, but when I was replaying it a few months ago it actually felt like a bad game. I was having trouble remembering why I liked it so much. It's like a condom: one use only.

I played F.E.A.R. 2 back when it was sill just Project Origin at PAX. It was awesome. The AI was excellent and the graphics were just great. Instead of the same-y office hallways it was outside! All the weapons I used felt good and were useful. The best part for me was that you get to used to armor suit/mech things. I have High hopes for this game.

I loved FEAR, but I thought Perseus Mandate was crap and I haven't even played Extraction Point yet - it's one of those weird add-ons that just refuses to go down in price, and I'm not touching it until it does. So Project Origin is big news for me. The renaming is nice as a way of cutting back on the confusion, but for my money Origin was always going to be the "real" sequel anyway. The Sierra version of FEAR 2 may have worked out as a good game, but if it's not dealing with the aftermath of the synchronicity event then I'm not nearly as interested.

Anyone else disappointed that the game is moving away from the Point Man and focusing on some Delta guy instead? I'm don't think I like the idea of the Point Man's abilities not being unique, even if the new guy has to be surgically augmented to achieve the same thing. (This was one of my big complaints about Perseus Mandate.) I'm hopeful it's a good story, but the ending of FEAR was obviously built as a jumping-off point for the follow-up, and now we're not getting that.
Apparantly Project Origin is retconning Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, or at least pretending like they don't exist.

I too loved F.E.A.R. I thought it was a very fun game with an interesting plot that kept me playing, plus it was pretty darn scary at points (I get scared easily it would seem). Hopefully the sequel will improve on the original, just please have more variations in environments.
