Project: Ra Orb (Minecraft)

So I'm creating this giant circle made of glass and filling it with lava because I was thinking "Why do I need a son if I have a giant lava orb?". So the first thing I did after creating like 300 pieces of glass was to create a large tower of cobblestone so I could get into the air. Now I'm standing on a large pillar and have to wonder, how do I place blocks perpendicular to the one I'm standing on?

Hold shift and edge towards the edge of the block, you won't fall off unless you let go of shift.

Wow... a giant glass orb of lava sounds like a very good idea. I hope you don't mind if i steal it and put my house in the middle.

Also i have to ask, how are you planning on making the sphere? Curves seem to be very difficult to make work in Minecraft, and I'm wondering if there is some specific method to making them right?

I figured out how I'm doing it. I built a square of glass and put another one on each of the corners. Then I'm using those to create a border, rise and repeat. Might be cool. Running out of glass though.

No, I don't mind if you use it. I'm making an evil cloud castle next, and I'm using wool as clouds to border it (It'll be floating in the sky). I hope the wool doesn't look stupid though.

You will need at VERY MINIMUM 10X the amount of glass for a small orb.

Trust me, glass is not very cost efficient. I built a 13x9 glass tower and built a second layer at 15x11, then filled the middle with lava. I's about six stories tall, so... It's a very tall tower made up of glass. Only problem being it's on a multiplayer server, where my friends have a habit of using explosives.

your lava orb sounds epic, though. I can't wait to see the finished product.
