Project Spark Has Been Shut Down

How big of a deal was this game again? A game that you can make games of your own and have Conker as DLC seems to be a winning formula, but I first heard of it in JonTron's video, then here announcing its shutdown after hearing that any DLC planned for it was cancelled.

First was Rockman Online, then Project Spark, Super Mario Maker was the only AAA with shared user-generated content to have hit it big, mainly because it allowed for exploration in how everything worked with itself.

Littlebigplanet is pretty good. Not as good as SMM but has its moments.

Part of me really enjoys watching Microsoft fuck up. Another part of me feels really bad for the developers and artists who get laid off thanks to Microsoft's stupidity. The last part of me is just kind of disappointed. I loved my 360 but I knew right from the botched announcement that this console would be a bit of a disaster and I built my PC instead. If MS just made a damn game console instead of constantly pushing for games as a service and xbox as your one-stop entertainment box I think they'd be in a better financial position. Not that MS doesn't have more money than God, but I don't know... it feels a bit like watching a childhood hero drink himself to death.

Ah, they're pulling the good ol' "you paid for online content and we're turning off the servers depriving you thereafter of what you paid for" trick. Love it, it's a real corker. It's always good when companies make things, charge for them then take them away and keep the money.

Well the game/creator was only bought up and locked to MS specific shit, which is why it withered and died.
I hope the studios involved can pull away and make something proper with the idea, specifically in an open ended fashion where people can actually do something on their own and use it as they please.
