So... tried the demo Tuesday night, then caught the stomach fly that was going around work and took a sick day yesterday, so I bought Project Zomboid [http://projectzomboid.com/blog/]. I am really enjoying it - but it seems like something that will wear out quickly with me. The forums are pretty inactive, but those who do mod seem pretty good at it - though I have yet to try downloading anything.

How do you play, if you do? Do you do the quick story mode, or sandbox (essentially the same, story mode is a bit of a tutorial). I downloaded the 0.2.0q(?), the newest alpha release, anyway. Where do you hole up, if you do hole up? I tried the apartments last night and crafted a bedsheet escape route out one of the windows, but apparently I miscounted by one floor, and went splat.

For those who haven't played - it's a zombie survival game - but you will eventually die, there is no winning. You do around trying to gather enough food to survive, find somewhere safe to sleep and drink, try to entertain yourself, barricade your chosen holdout, collect supplies, and then go out zombie hunting, too. The controls are a bit awkward and take some time to get used to, and incredibly deep. I haven't even tried crafting any barricades but nailing boards over windows and doors yet. Nor have I really run into any other survivors, other than trying to chase them as they run around trying to talk to them or team up, but I think it's buggy as they do neither.

It's good enough to have me thinking about playing as soon as I get home tonight, though. What should I play this time? I was thinking of holing up in that building near the apartments with the balcony... or maybe one of the apartments above the school. Or maybe the bar, for fun, see how long I survive.

I've yet to figure out how to get past the gunman in the story, and I haven't tried just the sandbox yet. I also haven't played the game at all in months, which I should remedy eventually...

Apparently you can kill him with the hammer while he's counting down. I have't done that yet. I did, however, smother Kate a couple times, them promptly died to a horde outside the door. Also the kitchen fire caught me off-guard, too.
