I wish my country had a range, my first shooting range was in the cadet corp. In an aircon room. With LASER-TAG STYLE GUNS. *Big sigh*

But back on topic, I think as long as the parent is no-b**** thorough about gun safety and responsibility, why not? I don't think proper parenting is just about keeping kids away from what is not safe, it's also about teaching kids how to handle things that are in the grey - like guns. No roses though, sorry.

Singapore. It sucks in a way, but considering it's safe out even past midnight I guess the tradeoff is...sort of... fair?

There were a few attempts to sell rifle parts but the law comes down hard and fast here. Just one part gets you a few years in jail.

I was 10 the first time I went hunting with the Boy Scouts. I was a top marksmen throughout my scouting career. I had my Rifleman and Shotgun merit-badges, only 2 of the 50 badges I had (I stress that so it does not sound like shooting was all we did).

Of course shooting wasn't the only thing you also have to learn hand to hand combat and how to take out enemy sentries silently. Scouts and sniper training are the same thing right?

If they don't do it, they'll never learn. Half of my friends only remember not to press the scope to their face specifically because they disregarded the advice and get idiot cuts a couple times.

Also, it's how I learned to stop licking electric sockets.

also, i did something pretty similar with "Now thats what i call xmas" last year after my flatmate decided it needed playing until feburary and then left it lying around. all 4 disks.

This is an actual problem with non-gamers trying to buy presents for gamers. There's just so much that can go wrong on so many levels, shovelware being just the most common problem...

My familly tend to ask me for a list of games or dvd's to choose from as i'm the resident NEEEEERD.

My dad first took me out to shoot when I was just a kid. I still remember the first thing he told me before he handed it to me.

"The weapon is always loaded, especially when it's not; the safety is always off, especially when it's on. Never point this at anything you don't want to kill."

That, and seeing firsthand just how much power is behind a .357 Magnum slug (sucker kicks like a mule, and will go through just about anything it hits) was enough to convince me that firearms are not something to be trifled with. Personally, I think if more parents educated their children on how to handle firearms, you'd see a lot fewer cases of little Johnny blowing his best friend's head off while playing Cowboys and Indians.

Never hand a loaded gun to a child without the express permission of the parent first.

Also, if a kid ever hugs a loaded rifle like that, I'd expect both of those women to retrieve the rifle then give the kid a smack up-side the head for being a moron.

I wish, it would have made camping a heck of alot more fun, AND we would have had less time to blow things up with cooking stove gas. AH, you can still see our old camp-fire 'ring' based on scorch marks.
