I'm getting tired of the way debating has taken a turn in North America at the moment. We've been pretty much reduced to calling people a Communist, Nazi, Socialist or Fascist. People seem to call people thse things without any proof execept that they and one thing in common with one of those mentioned before. People also use several derogatory terms (in their opinion) as synonyms with one another. Like Nazi and Fascist. If someone is acting like a Fascist they aren't nessecarily acting like a Nazi. A fascist is someone who's rule is undisputable or doesn't let anyone else decide for a group. A Nazi is someone who is a Fascist but uses propaganda while trying to wipe out a race of people and acheive world donmination, there's a difference. We've also gotten to the point where if someone believe in social security, EI or things similar we'll call them a Communist because they believe in something that most would say "I'm not giving my tax dollar so someone else can benefit" to...maybe not in those particular words. My point is that if your going to call someone something at least use it properly and not that often so it doesn't lose it's meaning. It's like saying retard. It's an offensive term and shouldn't be used, at least not very often but today I can call you a retard if you trip on something and some people we'll just use it for a reason that's not even related to being that way. It loses it's meaning if you use it for EVERYTHING!!!

Racist, Fascist, Communist, Nazi have all been so overused that they really don't have teeth anymore.

Hell, most people don't even understand what a fascist truly is when they use it.

In fact, even in the rare cases when they are actually used... say Obama using top down regulation of big businesses without congressional consent or Constitutional authority being Fascist in the manner of Mussolini... it doesn't catch either because the term is too overused to be meaningful.

The fact that the homosexual community worked so hard for so long to rebrand themselves as "Gay" then to have the term come full circle and be used negatively again I find depressingly ironic.

OT: I usually try to make my insults as accurate as possible because the words that hurt the most to people are the ones with the most truth in them. If you just call people generic insults willy-nilly they lose all potency.

To get slightly off topic isn't a Fascist like Mussolini better than any other Fascist dictator? I mean Mussolini did everything he did to build a new Roman Empire to help the people of Italy, at least he didn't try to genocide or oppress his people terribly like other Fascists.

And Hitler got Germany through the depression and tried to save them from the unjustified Treaty of Versailles. Most Facist governments have a great reason to do what they do.

OT: Gay is something I hear so often and it's annoying. I know I was ninjaed but that's all I can think of...Oh and F*g...that annoys me more...but they make no sense. Oh, this cake is gay! Huh?

Maybe, if you're not fully aware of everything he did. Study what he did to Ethiopia and North Africa, and it will paint a different picture. True, he wasn't Hitler, but he wasn't Mother Theresa either. He brought back SPQR, but there was still a slight sense of Roman superiority.

On paper, there is nothing inherently wrong with any government system. Fascism isn't necessarily evil anymore than democracy is. The trouble is that Fascism and Communism, due to the high amount of government power, is easily abused by those that can. For instance, the Soviet Union went from a barely industrialized nation to a world superpower in less than 50 years, although quality of life was low due to mismanagement. All systems have strengths and weaknesses, and the distinction needs to be made that it is not the systems that are "evil" or bad, but the people running them.

EDIT: I suppose I should put something actually on topic here. Personally, I like it when someone tries to insult me with the OP stuff. It means they don't understand what it is, and I can retort safe in the knowledge that they can't hurl anything really offensive.

Is any politician comparable to Mother Teresa?

So much for slightly off topic...

The lack of vocabulary seems to be plaguing society greatly, lets face it Generic = no fun, especially when the fire your using has absolutely no place in the conflict. ie, you gay camper in the words of a pissed off cod player, to my response would be I don't see how my securing of a location through more than annoying use of claymores and shotguns would make me a homosexual. Hypothetically of course I never camp with claymores :D
