I watched Avatar recently and the Na'vi just pissed me off. They acted like they were better than the humans and didn't even listen to the humans terms. I have a few others, but that is the biggest one. What protagonists that you are supposed to side with did you hate?(and by extension prefer the antagonist)
Now, It was a while since I saw that movie. But i distinctly remember humans coming to the Na'Vi and just wrecking their shit up because humanity is greedy as fuck, because we are.
They did but that was after the humans tried to negotiate with them, but the navi acted like they were better than people. They weren't even using the resources

Hmm... Desmond from Assassin's Creed is very boring, but I don't hate him. I actually can't think of any specific examples.

I guess there's every dependable child from any game, TV show or film ever.

Garcia Hotspur comes to mind. Now to be fair it's not his attitude that bothers me, I can live with that, it's his stupidity that really gets to me. Besides going out of his way to kill the Lord of Demons to simply get his girlfriend back, you start to realize how crazy and dependent Paula was and realize that Flemming is actually doing him a favor. That would have been interesting, going all that way just to eventually realize how much of a burden Paula is and either just leave Flemming alone or to go kill Paula just so she'll be out of his life. But nope, Garcia still doesn't learn in the end, even when he gets back a girlfriend that looks like she'll kill him any minute while also being hunted by Flemming's army because of said crazy girlfriend.

Also, since he seems to be presenting the episodes as a series, I'll also place my vote for the Overthinker from, well, Game Overthinker. Nuff said really.

Oooh, a classic case of "Why the fuck did they replace my protagonist"? The protagonist to the sequel of Drakengard, this little annoying butt monkey does nothing but whine and complain to every occurrence that happens, and even does the exact opposite of what the heroes were doing in the first game. After playing a badass who did not even bat an eye at what he had to do for the sake of Good and World saving; this is a very jarring transition. It's pretty bad when even the characters in the game are poking fun at your protagonist's complaints.

I would give a few more details, but that would include plot; and I'd hate to spoil that...
I forgot all about him! I was going to go with Tidus or some such character, but Nowe...

He may very well be the dumbest protagonist I have seen. Not even getting into his annoying tendencies, he is just rock stupid.

This man makes me want to vomit:

People can say what they want about generic unlikable characters but all of those pale in comparison to this guy.
its like they try so hard to make him nto bland and generic...but he actually IS bland and generic..only difference being how much he talks

I will admit there was one moment in the Uncharted series that made me laugh...I think it was in 3 where they are doing the usual "run away as everything collapses" and sully says "see! this is why we can't have nice things!!"

And you know, he's breaking those seals that everyone knows will cause the world to end if they are broken. It's said in the introduction that the Seals are very important to the world's balance; and the Knights of the Seal (huh, wonder where they got that name from) are there to keep them safe. But what does Nowe do? "Herp derp, a pretty lady said people die to keep these world saving seals in check; I should destroy the world saving seals and save the peoples! YAY! I SAVES ALL TEH PEOPLES!" Accept, you know, ending the world won't save anyone.

I do recall saying throughout playing the game "I miss Caim, I wonder when he's going to show up?"

2nd this so badly. Still love the games and the books but the tabletop seems to have devolved into "let's make everyone so overly super badass and hope people think they are cool" that it's just ridiculous. Made only more stupid by the fact that authors / developers who wanted to mutilate lore like that would get told to piss off. He has alot to freakin answer for.
It's the same problem 2nd Edition had; 1000pt super commanders and a dozen or so regulars aptly named "Meat Shield Brigade." 2nd didn't have Lore Mutilation in it tho.

O.T: I would like to throw my support in for the Shinji hate. There's a difference between teen angst and whiny *****.

Ash fucking Katchum. He is the worst pokemon trainer I have seen. In the manga he was called Red and he was a badass.
Picture is related:

As for me, I got really annoyed with Niko from GTA 4, especially towards the end, where...
you get a ridiculous moral choice whether or not to kill that one guy, that everyone in the game will judge you on, despite having already gunned down scores of people

Also Tidus, Yuna, Rikku, Lightning, Hope, Vanille, Snow, etc

Nathan motherfucking Drake.

I'm sick of games that have you play as a hypocritically "righteous" violent white male in his 20's or 30's running around literally murdering more non-Americans than malaria. Why is Resident Evil 5 blasted as racist due to having African enemies when RE4 was no different but with Spanish? So is it ok to kill Europeans but not Africans?

The topic should be the opposite since there's more protagonists I dislike than I like.
Only movies usually make better protagonists, because games and anime it's rare. Maybe because games goes to far in alpha males and anime in beta males?

Harry Potter, worst character from the entire books!
Luke
Naruto in Naruto Shippuden
Ichigo
Natsu
Sheppard
Nathan Drake
Jintan (anohana)
Menma (anohana)
Marcus
Max Payne (3rd game).
Saber
Mashiro (Bakuman)
Kratos
Batman (Not necessarly hate, but he's the least interesting character of the Nolan movies)
Wolverine
Protagonists of every Harem anime.
Aisaka Taiga
Terminator
Allen Walker
Ganta (Deadman Wonderland)
Victorique (Gosick)
Kujo (Gosick)
Kimimaro (C)
Nessa (Fractale)
Clain (Fractale)
The two protagonists of Avatar, not to say the entire Avatar cast
NCIS all of them
Hawaii five-o all of them
NCIS los Angeles all of them
Castle
The girl Castle likes
The girl from Burn Notice
Mako (ATLK)
Desmond
The girl the protagonist from Taxi Driver liked.
Stan Smith
Roger
Clevland and his son
Marge
Ash
Seinfield (least funny of the cast, and his voice is annoying)
Rick (Walking Dead)

I loved Daenarys Targaryan in the first season, but in the 2nd one she was just a *****, if she continues like that I'll stop liking her :/

And some other dozens that I can't remember.
Holy balls, someone ninja'd my entire list (well, except for leaving out the Ultrasmurfs of 40K, but that's just nitpicking).

I can't stand Ted for HIMYM. He had potential early on. When he decides to actually be friends with Robin after their dating falls through I though was a great character moment. But as it goes on I get more and more "meh" about him. Whenever he complains about anything, he's a handsome architect living in New York who dates dozens upon dozens of women, his life is so hard.

Not helped that all of the other characters are funnier and more interesting.
I know who Ted's going to marry......

OT I genuinely hate Superman in the movies. All of them. He's just so retarded, and gaining new powers with each sequel that aren't even Superman powers. He becomes this superpowered wizard through them all. The Animated series and Justice League are what made me love Superman and his comics and movies after that were pretty good, too.

EDIT: I meant animated movies after JL

Jack Kelso from L.A. Noire. When you have a game full of gray and black morality, the last thing we need is a protagonist that is so...damn...perfect!
Ugh, Thank You! I was trying to remember who it was that I hated so much, and THAT'S who I was thinking of. Personally, I liked Cole. At first I thought he just lacked personality, but then I figured out that he was just terrible at displaying emotions and relating to people, like when he informs a woman that her husband has been murdered, only to begin yelling at her and accusing her of murdering him. They spent the entire game setting up his story and helping us build an affinity for him, only to throw him out in the LAST 2 CHAPTERS OF THE GAME in favor of some goody-two-shoes guy who had only been mentioned in flashbacks up unto that point. Then he picks up a flamthrower and fights a bunch of sewer dwelling thugs... yeah.
I still hope that there's a sequel. A franchise like L.A. Noire has a LOT of potential.
Also:

I hate you Godzooky.I hate you so much.

There are two that I can think of at the moment-

Micah from Fire Emblem Radience Dawn. I hated her view on Ike from the previous Fire Emblem game, acting as if her nation are the victims. Ok the civialian are but not their army since they're the one who invaded the other nation in the first place! Not once did I saw her admitting her nation fault considering they are racist toward those animal hybrid people.

Zael from The Last Story. He was so bland and uncompelling for an hero of a RPG game. He alot worse at the whole romance stuff aswell.
to be fair, Micah's country was suffering from droughts, starvation, all sorts of problems and obtaining resources was the only means to survive. the king from the first game used this as an opportunity to invade another country by motivating his people (at least the more zealous ones) into going after a relatively weak but prosperous nation, in this case Ike's home. The vast majority of the king's army were forced to fight and when Ike and the army came marching in, they pretty much trampled all of Micah's country and made it much worse than when it started. And I'm sorry but she did start hating on her military adviser who wanted to use the beast people as cannon fodder, so yeah, she is against racism but people like her, human/beast people hybrids are hated even worse than that.
Besides, maybe she doesn't know all of the details of the king's invasion which is why she supports the army or at least supports the liberation forces from the kingdom which took over

40k: Kaldor fucking Draigo. Mary Sue^10,000,000 with this one. Wait he did what? Okay I guess that could feasibly happe- Wait what's this about Mortarion? Yeah, no. He can't do that by himself unless he's the warp-dammed Emperor and even then, that's no cake-walk. WAAAAAAAAAARDDD!!!! For those who don't know, Kaldor Draigo carved the name of his master into the heart of the mother of all Badguys' heart which also happens to be surrounded by what amounts to hyper-infectious super space AIDS. Draigo did not become infected despite literally being inside corruption and disease itself. This is after he kills/defeats 7 Greater Daemons of More disease and nastiness (if Mortarion keeps similar company to Angron that is, which seems likely). And he destroys literally impossible architecture despite it being, well, impossible to understand. So... much... Derp.
Grey Knights can scrub my dick, I hate them so much.

Captcha: moon cheese. A good Space Marine description, that.

On topic...

The Starks from A Song of Ice and Fire. Everyone just nuts all over themselves because Starks are the "good guys" and "honorable" and bluh bluh...

Fuck that. They're BORING. Not only are the Lannisters a better House, their bannerman and sowrn swords are all awesome.

...That's a losing battle though. I went to a book signing once in my Lannister shirt...the only one out of a crowd of 500. Even ol' George commented on it, bless his heart.

honestly, it's hard for me to hate protagonists since I mentally try to project myself into their shoes and see myself doing pretty much everything they do, so yeah, I can't understand the hate on Shinji since I'm willing to bet that if anybody was suddenly taken from a peaceful life, given a weapon and told to kill, not some long range weapon like a gun where you can't see the death but a full close-combat weapon of mass destruction, would affect them in negative ways no matter how desensitized you think you are. Killing in a game or watching it happen in movies does not take away the effects it has on you if you have to be the one to shove a knife into someone's throat.
Honestly, I don't see why everyone labels a character who has emotional issues as emo - emo has to do with having suicidal thoughts or at the very least having totally negative views on life and existence, so an emotionally disturbed character or person is not always emo.

But as for the OP, I would have to go with the girls in Hostel 2,
especially the first one since she's pretty much the type that would fall for any cheap romance line and disregard any sound advice from her friends, go off with a total stranger she met 20 seconds ago to a secluded place and then get kidnapped and tortured to death.
EDIT: Lorna was her name

Okay, for me I hate Kratos because he goes out of his way for revenge and I hate bad/evil people. I also hate renegade Shepard from the ME series, I mean I just hate his asshole attitude with a passion.

And all other evil protagonists out there, I just fully hate them to the extend where I do not want to play the game. (For some reason I feel like that the Saints Row series is about one man rebelling against evil governments.)
agree (though I do find it hard to justify the actions of my saints row charachter alot of the time)

I hate renegade shepard...and I actually hate the fact that some (and do) play him/her that way (nott hat I would stop them or take away that option)...NOTHING turns out better with renegade

Korra and Mako in new Avatar series.

Huh, is the not so good looking but funny guy going to get the girl? Nope, pretty boy with no character is it. I actually found it hard to tell Mako from another firebending character (General Iroh) who was introduced in the second to last episode. Both are moody benders with no substantial character. The "romance" element seemed tacked on and contrived but had to be included since the first Avatar series had it.

Usopp from One Piece

Completely irrelevant to the crew or anything else. Only develops character in the Water Seven arc and promptly goes back to his annoying self once the story arc is over. I pray the only reason he is still in the series is so that he can provide a touching death scene later on.
