Well he was - to put it gently - a fucking arse hole in the first one, so now that he's actually fulfilling the antagonistic role I don't see why they can't just make him an official baddie.
Probably trying to go for depth.
Should be interesting if they're still using the same terrible writers and actors from the last game.
and the same horrible lip-syncing, cinematography, pacing

etc. etc.

honestly, i did not give a shit about the story. if you were playing that game for its story you were completely missing the point.

it was more about "how much shit can i fuck up and how many ways CAN i fuck it up?"
Would have probably helped if that part wasn't shit too.

Prototype spoilers:

The real Alex was indeed an ass. He is also very, very dead. The Alex you play as - i.e. Blacklight - causes a lot of collateral damage but is otherwise pretty decent, especially compared to Blackwatch. Though discovering his (its?) true nature may have been an unhinging experience.
But when he still thinks he's himself, he's still a colossal prick.

what do you mean? gameplay was solid! just like the Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. i didn't see any flaw with being able to paint the streets of new york with the 20,000 citizens i disembowled with my whipfist. especially on Normal+

I want more obscure anime references. The Bio-Boosted Armor Guyver homage was awesome. Also, there had better be some serious plot-twisting, because my Alex Mercer was a pretty decent guy who only ran over civilians when they stupidly jumped in front of his tank.

I honestly disagree. The fact that you can massacre citizens is just gameplay-story segregation - canonically, he really only goes after the people who had something to do with his creation, who all happen to have it coming as a nice bonus. Considering what he is, that's some pretty noteworthy restraint.

Well the virus Alex actually saved New York even if he was an ass, so I don't see how he is actually a baddie. The story line is that the new guy wants revenge on the person that released the virus that killed his family so what will he do when he finds out that person is already dead?

You just spent $70 on (and many hours) building up a character, only to destroy him in the next game. What the hell was the point of that?

I'd prefer have that cliched ending where they team up to kill something greater; rather than kill the your character, which seems rather pointless to me...

I'll be interested to see how this pans out. Having run a PnP RPG campaign like this it can be really good fun!

I.e. Let players be evil (seriously, announce you're going to run an 'evil campaign' and watch the interest!), build up power, design impregnable strongholds etc, then retire them. Play a seperate game system for a while then start as new characters in the first game system, play out being oppressed by the local laws/government and then introduce their old characters as the powerful/high level monstrosities that they will eventually face.

Yeah Alex may be kinda bad in the first Prototype...like killing military and raging out most of the time in free roam...but i think he has every right to, cause at first he is totally confused and shit scared at what the hell is going on then soon after he finds out hes a fuckin genetically enhanced monster...then he starts to unravel some of the plot behind wats going on and (stupidly, although he is kinda oblivious at the start) releases, basically, the mother of the virus and infects half of NewYork...wouldn't u want to kill if u were in that situation....i sure know i would

And wats with heroes in games and movies, that have been given the gift of super awesome genetically altered powers, always trying to kill the ones responsible.....i'd walk right up to the ones responsible.....and give em a high five

What gives? I really liked Alex, I don't want to kill him, that's the last thing I wanna do. Also, I don't trust bald people, no hair clearly means they have no soul.

I'll still totally get this game, but damn it I don't want to kill Alex.

,,alex mercer.....the city suffered forhis mistakes, and who ever he was he is now a part of me....for when i close my eyes i see the memory's of a thousand dead men screaming as i take their lives , memory's that i will relive for ever , what have i became ? somthing less than human ? but also something more '' - alex mercer is my hero, this is the proof he is no monster , if they twist his image and murder him in prototype 2 i will forever hate them for ruining the nr.1 video game hero ever , long live the cause of freedom , long live our free minds , he is a free mind , long live alex mercer !
