I've been waiting for this day. I knew Prototype 2 would be awful so I've documented every PS3 vs Xbox 360 thread (on another website) I've ever seen that contains the phrase "You have inFamous? We have Prototype." since Prototype 2's announcement. Ignoring that the statement doesn't even make sense because the PS3 has Prototype too, I've got some mocking to do.

Got it on PS3, played it for an hour or so, gave it away yesterday and do not expect (or hope) to get it back.
I liked the first one. I really did. It was quite fresh and new and a wee bit darker than its twin brother, InFamous.
As I just found out, I do not like Prototype 2, at all. It's really only just the same game, and the hour or so of 'content' I was able to enjoy before I got bored with it felt more like a mission pack or DLC to the first Infamous.
Once again, I feel cheated, lied to and shorthanded... and that pretty much ends this franchise for me, t'a.

So kinda off topic but if you rented it and did that, do you have a solution for screen capturing off of a HD TV - computer or other recorder? I'm kinda interested in cutting together some fan videos, but am only really familiar with FRAPS for the PC... As far as Prototype 2, I'm not really far enough in to pass judgement, but I'm enjoying it for the same reasons I liked the first, for the most part... I kinda wish they'd kept the original blackwatch soldier design... it seemed like a practical paramilitary uniform... now they all look like they're cosplaying Assassins Creed "Quarantine Edition".
The first Prototype killed the idea of me getting the sequel. I found the first Prototype to be really boring. It has been a few years since I played it but I think the reason I disliked it so much was because of the lack of content. I liked how it was an open world game but they really didn't do anything with it from what I remember. The city didn't feel like people lived in it and attacking the military got boring after the first hour.
Actually just picked up the first one on a Steam sale about a month ago still haven't gotten around to playing it. Will probably soon though.

Once I was finally able to really grasp the controls and how everything worked and what tactics worked best for me, I started to enjoy the game more.
My only issues are the totally over-the-top use of the word Fuck (there just comes a point, you know?) and the HUGE character change for Mercer. In the first game he was an unbalanced individual but sympathetic, blurring the lines of good and evil. Now he's just a villian straight of of a comic book, all condescending, smiling arrogantly and talking vaguely.

How much you enjoy Prototype 2 will depend on how much you're willing to put up with, basically. Radical just doesn't seem to have a grasp on what they want to do with their characters and story, which is a shame since the first game laid the foundations for such a promising series.
If there is one nice thing I can say that struck me immediately, though, is that the presentation is a lot better. While I don't like the aesthetic and art direction of the cutscenes, there are times in the game where I'm flying around and everything is very well coloured.

OT: I got it, and am loving every second of it. The controls are strange, but no more than Dark Souls or Crysis. It's a mayhem engine, and it's obviously taking the piss. The blackwatch look goofy, but the entire premise of the game is just as such. (Resident Evil 4 lol) The upgrade system is welcome to me, the movement is still one favorite parts of the games.
So meh, don't crown yourself the god of games and determine that Prototype 2 is shitty because you personally didn't enjoy it. Dang I didn't even realize this had come out.
I got to buy this soon then, hopefully it's as fun as the first game because I played that countless times and when I saw the tendril power for this game............I just knew i'd be getting it.
Also why all the hate for it? Did people think it was going to be a AAA game or something? The first one wasn't that great and didn't sell that well plus it's Activision. Im jst hoping the gameplay is as fun as the first one. The story sucked in the first game too, all I need is the setting and some awesome gameplay.

I'll play Prototype 2 (when I can afford it... and run it) because I enjoyed the first one. It wont be something with a deep story to it that I'll get immersed into, but a fun, mindless, gory, violence game with some fun free roaming.
I am disappointed that the developers couldn't come up with a better story than "Boo hoo, He killed my family, I'll justify it with heaps of murder", It would be nice to have a character with who is mentally unstable and believes everyone is full of candy, so it's his duty to empty candy out of people for the children.

I wouldn't really call it horrible, but it is very cheap, everything from writing, visuals, animations, gameplay,... it's just all done on a low budget.
Sticking a triple A price tag on such a game is the real issue with it.
But for me it actually doesn't seem that far off from the first game.
