I know this game is older. I know not a whole lot of people are talking about it anymore and it's is a bit random. And the fact that people have probably already gone over this...
But god damnit! I hate the fact that Mercer lost. I'm not just saying it because I'm a Mercer fanboy (I am) but I'm also saying it because I really believe it's true.
The fight with Mercer in just a regular setting without any consuming of other evolved to become "super evolved" would still end with Mercer winning.
The arguments I've heard in favor of Heller is A. he used to be a soldier and was already a badass before hand and B. Alex Mercer is an emo ***** (real classy).
Personally I think if you said B that you really like the gunho badasses that kill everything in sight and have no character at all really. I'm gonna be honest here and say that I hate Heller's character. Mostly because he acts like he knows whats going on and that he's the biggest badass in the world. The other reason is because he acts like a 6 year old kid on COD who just learned curses so he has to say one in every sentence. Yes that pisses me off.
But aside from that, if you said A I'd still have to disagree but think you're at least nicer than B. Sure Heller has combat experience from being a solder but Mercer would have more control over the virus seeing as how he was a scientist who basically created it. However, this doesn't even matter because Heller consumed scientists that worked on the virus and Mercer consumed soldiers giving him combat experience. So this goes right out the window.
Now I believe it personally would come down to how many people you've consumed, the surrounding environment, and your allies.
Mercer has consumed more people just because he had a headstart. He's already beating Heller in terms of intelligence and the amount of people he has consumed.
The environment in this setting is basically set equal for both at this instance.
And for now we'll just pretend its a one on one with Heller and Mercer with no people around.
Even in this setting I think Heller would lose just because Mercer has been around longer and learned more powers/has gotten used to them.
Now I've been setting this little fact aside (not really little). Mercer just consumed something like 8 other evolved. Making him a "super evolved." Were still in the same settings except we just gave Mercer a major power boost. Lets face it, Heller would be fucked.
I'm also going to point out that the reason Mercer is so easy in the game is because you get a fucking health regen at every cutscene. Could you imagine fighting him through 3 life bars with only one for your own? It'd be really fucking hard.
Not to mention he doesn't use any of his powers from the first game.
