While prototype 2 is better than the origional, its stil missing a thing or two.
First of you cant blame others for being you in disguise. second is that you cant hammertoss yourself halfway across the map. And finaly you you cant elbow drop from the top of a building and see how much damage you cause. Well... you can, but you could fall from the moon and it wouldnt any diference for the AoE. But then again the things they left out are countered by the things they aded.
whaaat? no more hammer toss?
I guess I'll check it out when they finally deign to release the damn thing on PC...

I'll do what I did with Prototype and pick it up when it gets cheap. I enjoyed the story of the first game, but I really loved the gameplay. I'll go back and play the sandbox for an hour every once and a while just to screw around, and since I have all of the abilities unlocked I pretty much have ludicrous amounts of experience.
Also, I was originally surprised to learn that Mercer would be the antagonist in this game. However, one time when I was screwing about on the edge of the map in the citizen area with the musclemass power, grabbing people and jumping 40 feet in the air, only to throw them with a charged throw to have them disappear over the horizon Team Rocket style, I thought "Oh, this is why."
Captcha was "easy as pie"

I saw a thread about how some people were pissed with the game, claiming its controls were broken, but I had absolutely no problem with navigation, or combat (other than the block being a tad sticky sometimes.)
I definitely agree with you, and I wholeheartedly think it's a big step up from the original (if for no other reason than the main character isn't a complete sociopath), but there are some issues with the movement mechanics/controls.

I had no issues whatsoever with the combat controls or navigation or anything, but the actual process of going from point A to point B is significantly less intuitive than it was in the first game, and it's definitely an issue that should be brought up.

In the original, you could move across the whole city literally without sparing a thought for it. It was simple, intuitive and easy to use.

Prototype 2 on the other hand moved some controls around and removed a key function and made the process much more complicated. The biggest problems are that they switched the glade activation and the air dash buttons and that you can no longer charge and "store" jumps. These together make travel far less intuitive than it was previously. It's perfectly workable and doesn't really hamper the game at all once you get used to it, but it's still not nearly as good as it was before, and whenever a sequel does something worse than its predecessor, one should take notice.

Sorry to be a grammar a-hole, but this one really bugs me:

"from Prototype whose responsible" should be "from Prototype who's responsible"
You actually used incorrect grammar there, yourself. If we want to get technical:

"From Prototype whose responsible," should be "From prototype who's responsible."
Weeeelllll.... actually, if one wants to get really pissy, you shouldn't have capitalized the second 'From'. ;-)

Grammar wars... love it. :)
I'm fairly certain one does capitalize it, as it is the start of a quote.
No, because the original quote does not have a capital F there (it's a partial quote). You can get away with capitalizing the first 'from' because one could argue you're beginning a new sentence with said quote.

Let's type in text speak from now on. :)
Let's not forget that Grey Day for Elcia forgot to capitalize "Prototype"! As a matter of fact, what did you fix in that sentence, anyway, GDfE?

Anyways, I have the first one, and it's an absolute joy. I don't understand the helicopter missions, seeing as I can get anywhere by just running up buildings and then gliding. The hunters really freaked me out at first when I came to the realization that they were faster than me, I couldn't kill them (yet), and they always knew where I was. The game was fun. Legitimate fun. I hate how games these days try to be dedgyark and "realistic", thinking that it's a good substitute for fun. It's not. [Prototype] got this right. It didn't take itself too seriously, and it was focused on fun.

I am very interested in trying out [Prototype 2], when I've finished the first one and have a better computer. The first one lags, as it is. (Not to mention, I have to wait a few months for the PC version to come out.) However, there is one thing that bugs me. The camera. It looks less like what we had in [Prototype] and more like something out of SoulCalibur. What about those of you that actually have this game?

What do you think?

trying to knife Alex mercer is the stupidest thing I've seen a video game protagonist do in quite a while.

Ahh, yes. Prototype 2, or should I say, Prototype Again. Most of the same powers, mechanics, tricks, and fun of the original. And yet, somehow, there's less dicking around to be done. Maybe I dicked around to much in the first, or it just felt more fun, I don't know. I like the additions of the hunting and bio-bombs, but miss the ability to patsy others. The bases and hives that I could infiltrate, destroy, and secretly bombard as a disguised soldier of the first are missing from the former, and there's not really anything in their place. Yeah, there's the finishers and weaponizing for tanks and helicopters, but using them just on vehicles isn't as fun as using them on buildings. The claws, blades, hammers, and whipfist are all as fun as they were before, with some slight tweaks and improvements, but somehow, it's just not as fun. It's still a Prototype game, though, so it is fun. Just not as fun.

Also, did anyone else feel like they were playing on inFamous' map in the second zone?

And don't forget Mass Armor! That was awsome. I got upset when I finished the game and still hadn't seen it become available.
How i miss chargeing through civillians.
Can you still pick up a car, and run down the road, while doing a street clean up of people and vehicles?

OT: I'm in 2 minds, i never completed the first Prototype as i got stuck on one of the missions and could never complete it, however, people seem to be praising this game quite a bit =\

With Assassins Creed 3, Farcry 3, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Halo 4 and Pokemon Black and White 2 soon coming, im wondering if it's worth it =\

I love the camera angles. I think it really adds something to the feel of the combat. Also as the camera pans around you get a moment of pause where you can assess more of your surroundings. Spot the next tank you're going to rip in half etc.. so its pretty and useful.

I'm loving this game. I dont really mind that there are lots of controls different from the first game as they have tried to move it along and make you even more of a bad ass. Tendrils really have to be the most satisfying weapon in any game I've played for a very long time, and used simultaneously with the other powers really makes you feel like a super hero.

Speaking of which, despite all the comments that Heller is a two dimensional angry guy, he does actually feel like a good guy. This may just be because they've limited your gruesome consume moves to enemies only (*sigh*).. but I like him as a straight forward action hero type character.

I can't put this game down.

To answer your question, yes you can pick up cars and run at the same time, no it doesnt make any diference to your roaring rampage and finaly, yes you should give look since it is better than the last one, althoug it seems to be lacking in the dicking around department compared to prototype 1.
