I liked Prototype, probably as much as I like Infamous.

However, I can see where Infamous 2 has revved the engine, I'm curious to see if Prototype 2 will just be a replica of 1 with a few more features or an entirely new game.

The problem with Prototype is like hulk, you become over powered, if there is one thing I can't relate to, its an over powered hero or villain, because no longer do you fear anything or feel a sense of acheivement when you defeat something stronger and bigger than yourself, you just feel like they were flies. Yes, that was fun in Prototype, but it got old quickly.
You obviously never played through to the very end... The final boss fight was an exercise in sadomasochism.

If you didn't play perfectly from the get-go, you were faced with a respawn that left you massively underpowered and immediately getting beat on while you try and harvest at least SOME of the military personel before they get wiped out by the crossfire of tentacle hell.

OT: I think the teaser is Prototype2... and I'll be faced with a dilemma because of it. Buy inFamous2 or Prototype2(or simply rent both)?

I loved the story, power progression, collection hunting (that actually boosted your power as you collected more), and ability to affect the story through your choices of the former. As well as the story, combat, smooth travel, and multiple gameplay styles available (run in, tentacles flying... or move from soldier to soldier, on up the (food)chain of command until you found your target) in the latter.

Both were certainly worth playing, and what bugged me in one was fixed in the other, equally. Here's hoping that they BOTH learned from their mistakes, and we can get ANOTHER contest hosted by Yahtzee. Heheheh.

I had no problems at all with the last boss. Spent the entire time just doing flying kicks at his face. Started pissing around with rocket launchers and assault rifles at one point as well.

It's not so much that, its just that where do you go from there. The reason people relate better to Batman and Spiderman as opposed to Superman and Hulk is that they are more or less real people in costumes with everyday problems, they aren't overpowered and you can see them facing off in more epic battles with both themselves, the people around them and the monsters they have to face.

Chance are, you are unlikely to play a superman or hulk game that was as phycologically deep as Arkham asylum. With more work, spiderman games could be the same. Don't get me wrong, Prototy[e was sheer fun from start to finish, but it hasn't left as much an impact on me as my time with arkham. And thats making it sound as if Arkham was amazing, it really wasn't but I felt like I could relate more with the characters. With prototype, all I cared about was smashing shit up, once that got boring, I went to play Assassins Creed 2.

This is Activision we're talking about people! It's going to be mediocre but it's going to be hyped up to eternity.

About the only thing I can tell for sure is that it's in New York City, which is good because it's the most under-used city in video games.

Oh wait...

...yeah, this is pretty blatantly Prototype 2. New York Zone, the same black-with-red-highlights mutation tendril MESS ripping up from the ground, the visage of a horrifically mutated humanoid THING...

...sweeeeet. I freaking loved Prototype. They better answer the loose plot threads from the first one though.

I've played the first Prototype and, well, it was okay I suppose. The story was utter crap, though I guess you wouldn't play Prototype for the story, but still, it did hinder my experience with it. The gameplay did get a bit repetitive, most of the moves were pointless, overall it felt pretty average to me.

That being said, I did enjoy my time with it, and I'd be interested to see where they'll go with Prototype 2, if this is indeed Prototype 2. It's a blip on my radar at least.
