Avoid Numbered scores. That is the feedback that will come up from the Experienced escapists. That is my one as well. (feedback)
would you kindly stop saying how people should do this and that?

he can review a game anyway he wants. if you dont like it, then leave.

10/10? Are u on crack? I have the game too and its glichy as hell. The games not bad, but its far from perfect. I'd say 8 MAYBE 8.5/10 but definatly not more than that
Okay I will cede that I was pretty much jizzing in my pants from anticipation (see the end of the review) but at it's core it is a very, very fun game. Everyone I have sit down with to play as, the first words out of their mouth are either "awesome" or "cool". For everyone with gripes about graphics: go play Crysis, you shallow fucktards. Since the 6th Generation of consoles everyone's been focused on graphics and not on the fun of gameplay. That's why Halo, COD4 and Gears are all so popular (aside from being a big US Military jerk-off fantasy).
FUN should be the name of the game, not GRAPH. I distinctly remember someone saying "wow those are good graphics" when playing Metal Gear Solid on PS One. I'm playing it right now and YOU CANNOT SEE SNAKE'S EYES BECAUSE THEY ARE SINGLE PIXELS. People will always be stunned by pretty bloom effects and normal mapping, but who gives an across-the-map-noscope-headshot-FUCK when you can throw tanks at zombies?
In addition, as far as I'm concerned, if you're bitching about the controls, you're not a good enough gamer. Slow down, stop smashing right trigger, forward and A, and actually try to play it right. It's good. Chill out.

The negative feedback I have recieved for Prototype highlights one of the main things that fucks me off about gamers today. We expect games to be packaged and pre-heated for us. They have to be extremely easy to learn, very accessibly and usually very easy. Halo set a precedence with its smooth and likable controls but NOT EVERY GAME IS HALO. What happened to challenges, when we didn't have limitless game choice out there? What happened to the satisfaction of mastering a complex control system, of being able to hit X AND B at the same time in order to cannonball into a helicopter a few blocks away (oh, I have to hit two face buttons on OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE FACE! THEY'RE NOT IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT SO I HAVE TO ACTUALLY SHIFT MY GRIP ON THE CONTROLLER OR A SECOND! MY GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE IS RUINED!!!) Grow the FUCK UP, game-consuming public. You are acting like a spoilt child, holding your easily-accessible dollars over game developer's heads like the sword of Damocles, just like you did with movies. "Thriller" now means "woman gets chased by scary man" instead of "deeply intriuging and interwoven plot".

I mean, CHRIST! The average age of a gamer in Australia these days is 26, not 12! Where's your brains? Where's your power?

When did we stop enjoying a challenge, not just from the enemies in the game but the GAME ITSELF?

1. Story is boring
2. Graphics are bland
3. Voice acting is horrendous
4. Little variety in side missions (for a sandbox game too)
5. Mission structure is boring, and could use more incorporation of the powers. Maybe this the part of me that talking that loves Red Faction Guerilla's side/main missions, but Prototype could have done so much more with its awesome abilities.
6. Controls need work (try getting gold in a racing time trial).
7. Targeting system is balls, especially when i need it to work in fast paced fights. One particular incident was when I was on a roof surrounded by choppers, and I needed to pick up some vents to throw. Sure enough, the game decides to target the soldiers first over the helicopters, forcing me to cycle through which target I wanted, until I found the chopper, by which time I had already died. Heres a better idea, let me free aim then lock on my enemies.

These are off the top of my head. You may think they are little problems, but combine them altogether and you have a game that has issues. I still had a good amount of fun with the game, but it is FAR from perfect.
I agree with every single thing he said here. Its not perfect BUT its actually more fun and replayable than any other higher scored game I played. Infamous and Prototype (i played both) give me wonderful fun and replayability in the sandbox environment. Best of both their worlds.

I have yet to find another replayable game in the near future that doesn't rely on online / multiplayer.

I'm sorry, but its called constructive criticism. I merely stated that you should avoid numbered scores. Reason?
-Because some people don't read the review if there is a numbered score, they just look at the number. He could just put down a line of text and a number and it would be read the exact same by those same people.
Like this person seems to have a pretty well layered out opinion on the game, i just rather that people read the review and understand why he likes it rather than jumping down to the 10 and going 'OMFG, Yor a n0ob 4 givin th gam a 10'.
I hope that was a decent excuse for that.

Basically, some people kinda forget that games are supposed to be 'fun', rather than be pretty. They expect games to be so up themselves storywise and crap like that, that they forget the reason why they are called 'games' or in fact 'interactive entertainment'(with emphasis on 'entertainment') Remember the plot for marios first game? So small you could write it in one line.

'Plumber saves princess from Ape'

Halo was fun for me, so in my books its a good game, same with prototype. (though as a side note, the story is very intriguing for me for both games)

You really don't go into much detail and I have my doubts over how much of the game you actually played - to me it seems you have rushed a review as soon as possible in order to gain replies.
Well EFF you, stab me for wanting to share the Prototypey goodness as soon as possible
I doubt anyone actually cares about a user-review when its written as poorly as this. Nobody cares who reviews a game first; they care about it being a competent and detailed review.

Wow you're a heartless bastard, has anyone ever told you? I wasn't looking for your approval, I was merely putting my review out there. Instead of writing your own, you've just slashed directly at my abilities, and to what end? To tear down an anonymous avatar on the other end of an internet connection? Does that really bring you THAT much pleasure?

I do write my own reviews; but I don't tell people "F you" when they point out basic flaws, you can call me "heartless" all you want but at the end of the day if you aren't prepared to take criticism don't criticize peoples criticism of your work - it reads rushed, you even admitted you had written it whilst still caught up in hype so I guess it should have been a first impressions review too?

[small]Yeah, I said criticize way to many times in that sentence...[/small]

Okay, I'll accept that. I DO pride myself on my writing skills though.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I am enjoying it. It seems to take the best of previous superhero sandboxers like Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, and brings them together for a fun game that can be looked at as an homage to those games. This is one of its greatest accomplishments, but also its weakness. A great game should not remind you of other great games, it should keep you in the game in front of you. While I do have fun exploring the city with the whole parkour thing (before this, I had no idea what parkour was, it sounded like a fancy name for a guy making margarine in his bathtub), and smashing people down with the variety of powers, it all felt a little too familiar to me.

One advantage of this game over InFamous is that it takes the whole moral system and chucks it. You can buy and upgrade your own powers with experience...sorry, EVOLUTION points, which makes for a far more customizable experience, buying whatever enhancements and moves you want so you have a variety you can control without any form of guilt or conviction. As for the good/evil aspect, the game is always ready to remind you that you rate a 9.0 on the Asshole Scale, but everyone else rates a 9.1, so feel free to eviscerate the masses. XP

Okay, now I'm just rambling, but the point is, Prototype is fun, if a bit mindless at times. Good use of the given abilities, but the story is cookie-cutter at best, even with the Sixth Sense-style twist ending.
