Please explain to me why prototype is being hailed as an amazing game. its just explosions, a cliche storyline and a guy with his hood up :/

Yeah this just seems like trolling. You obviously have a biased opinion. Well, the game is fun. One of the most fun games I have ever played. It's not just explosions by the way and I seriously doubt that you have even played it.

because you can become people, shapeshift, do insane parkour stunts, varied missions, decent story and characters, and a whole lotta shit on screen. those are all great reasons. oh yeah, troll, go home

It's Average. I've spent over 20+ hours with it so far, and it's nothing mind blowing. That said, if you lower your expectations a bit, it's a great deal of fun.

Well arguably you could say most action games fit that definition.

I guess it comes down to whether it's a well done clique/corny story, and if the explosions look cool.

The Hoodie though isn't quite my style, honestly I could have done without that "trademark" though. It does deserve to lose points based on "retarded uncoolness" for that. :p

I haven't played it yet, just a general response.

I *WILL* say however that I think these sandbox super hero games aren't deserving the attention they are getting due to being bare bones productions. See, to me part of the "fun" of the sandbox crime games and such has been all of the little details involved, like the radio stations and "talk shows" and everything else. Saint's Row and Grand Theft Auto have had a ton for a long time. GTA IV even extended things to actually having TV shows and a somewhat surfable Internet. Not to mention little details like being able to change the "ringtone" on your phone. :)

Saint's Row 2 had like a ton of side activities to engage in, and we're not just talking about rampages and street races here. Stealing hookers from pimps, ruining property values by spraying sewage out of a truck, and playing bodyguard for celebrities by throwing overenthusiastic fanboys into lethal deathtraps come to mind. :)

Now granted these EXACT minigames, the choice of music, etc... wouldn't work with a "superhero" game. But the point is that it's noticibly missing. For my $60 I expect more of a complete package than inFamous (or I believe Prototype) has delivered.

I mean I like inFamous (which I have and have played a bit, despite getting distracted by Sacred 2) but in the end it's a very basic game once you get past the general engine and the "OMG I have powers" aspect.

Decent games as far as they go, but I think both games needed more criticism for only giving you part of what a sandbox game should properly include.

It's like making a thread that says "I want to know all the people who like Metallica because Metallica is a band full of stuck up whiney bitches." Which is almost exactly what you said except about Prototype. And how is it samey? Find me a game that's anything like this.

Actually I can think of one, Hulk Ultimate Destruction. But then again that isn't a bad thing. Plus this is more like you're Venom which adds 10 points in my book.

Generalizing anything like that is trolling, your looking for an argument not a discussion.

Example - I Think your mom is ugly.

Hulk didn't have a sword for an arm, did he?

*Gets wishful look in eye*, if only he did. But I'm a fan of this game, sometimes people just want to go nuts in a city full of plump juicy people that fall apart nicely when you smack them.

All this game is to me is a run of the mill sandbox game that will have the easily impressed people saying 'COOOOL' and 'WOOOOAAAH' alot, a game needs a good story aswell.
oh and you will get bored eventually then you'll go to your next sandbox game, theres a few good reasons why people still play the old gta's and ff's....storyline being a big one.

Because you come into a forum for no other reason than to start a flame war. Also read where I quoted you. That pretty much explains it.

Yeah that's what turned me off a little about Crackdown. I mean I LOVE Crackdown and it's a whole lot of fun, but there's punishment for killing the innocent people. Prototype you can run around killing whoever you want with no punishment. That's just great for relieving stress. There's nothing better than killing anyone and everyone for relieving stress. Even though I did feel bad when I was running low on health and I couldn't get close to the military guys to consume them because I was about to die so I had to consume an innocent guy.

Well, I went in expecting massive destruction, awesome parkour, and the ability to shapeshift into any random douche I meet, so I can't complain I guess.

I thought it was "meh".
-The graphics didn't bother me at all. I actually thought they did a pretty nice job, especially the lack of lag, even in the crowded areas. However the brownish tone when you enter an infected area is really bad

-The sandbox element is very poorly done. There are no side-missions, just those repetitive challenges that are found in every sandbox game. The only purpose the city serves is for you to fuck it up. Other than that, there's really not much you can do.

-The attack powers are too few , and surprisingly too similar. 2 that cut, 2 that smash , and one that's kinda like a ranged attack. Nothing too special. The guns are VERY poorly inserted and are just so difficult to use properly.

-Sometimes, the game just gets ridiculously hard. Considering the game is supposed to give you the impression you're a god, and then gives you insanely hard missions (making you fight 6 helis and 4 tanks WITHOUT your powers) is just inconsistent game-design.

I can't play Infamous , since I don't have a PS 3 , however judging by what I've read and saw on youtube, like the variety of powers and depth of the character, I can say It's a WAAAAY better game than Prototype.
Actually what Prototype really is, is a fancy beat'em up in a sandbox environment.
While this probably would sound like trolling, I believe the IGN score of 7.5 was too much, since I wouldn't give this game more than 6.5

Aw , well, there's still Red Faction: Guerrilla to look forward to.....
Don't get your hopes up to much for Red faction... The game is good but it falls on its face with the multiplayer. Check it out but you may want to rent it first.

I think your whole discusion is bias. You can't start a topic and get angry when people don't pick your side.

Or maybe it's a case of, oh, I don't know...your opinion not being fact? You can't just brush away conflicting opinions by accusing someone of having poor experience, that's just cheap and above all arrogant. And how can trolling be out of context? Given the fact that actual trolls don't exist and the creatures have been presented in a ming-blowing number of different ways, it doesn't have a context.
