What games should I get for the PS 1? I don't feel like spending a bunch of money on news ones, so what are some classics?

All the final fantasies (good luck getting them cheap), metal gear solid, and the Crash series are very good games.

I'm not into online buying but thats probably the most reliable way to get the games cheap.

Thanks. What's Crash?
Crash Bandicoot was a fantastic series of games (especailly 3). You play a Bandicoot who has to collect crystals to defeat the evil Dr. Cortex. Good fun.

OT: Spyro the Dragon is one of my favourite games ever made, I'd highly recommend playing any or all of the first 3.

Go look through the wholesale lots on eBay. Most of the stuff is junk, but you might find a good bargain.

I would say Tombi and Tombi 2 (or Tomba depending where you live). But they're pretty expensive =/

So I'm gonna say Oddworld 1 and 2, Heart of Darkness and Tai Fu.

EDIT: And V2000.

Out of curiosity how do you plan on playing these games? Ps1, ps2, or old style ps3? Because certain models of ps3's won't even play ps2 games. Also if you want them all for cheap and not have to worry about getting a scratched un usable disk just use a ps1 emulator.

Personal favorite is Dragon quest/warrior 8. Also james bond games during that generation where pretty epic.

Just Ps1 games. The PSN store, or just the physical games if I can get them.

Like I said you better make sure your ps3 is a backwards compatible edition. I meant dragon quest/warrior 7 sorry, its a rather long game, it spans 3 discs and has worse graphics then ff7 but has a really good story. The combat is classic and thats something that i miss about the old rpg's.

You should definitely take a look at the 'big' games people have mentioned, but you should also check out some lesser-known games (or games that didn't go as far as some others), like Future Cop: LAPD, MDK, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, Small Soldiers, and a boatload of others I can't think of right now.

Medievil. Good luck finding it though.

Silent hill and resi 2 hold up surprisingly well for their age. Everything else that springs to mind at 2:00 am has already been mentioned.
