This may seem like a pretty stupid question but I recently received a slim PS2 from someone who no longer wanted it. But they haven't included the SCART cable. Will a SCART cable from any PS2 do the job or are they specialised? I suppose this will only be relevant to those from Europe.

Try it out, you're not going to hurt anything. If it doesn't work, hit up amazon.com and get a new one (or Korean knock-off) for $5 :p

Oh good. Going into town to look for one tomorrow... If not there's always Amazon or eBay I suppose. Cheers.

Check its manufacture origin as well with the model numbering, this will indicate which nation it was produced for. As for the power cables, I'm not to positive on this, but the power cable will work for such models as the regular PS1, PS2, PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim(The new models). They won't work for the much bulkier models since they feature a different adapter output.

I'll look more into it.

I'm not sure about UK PS2s, but I can vouch that the ones in the US had a standardized system. The AV cables for the PS1 work on the PS2, the PS2 ones work on the PS3, and the PS3 cables that had an equivalent in the PS2 era work on the PS2. My parents have a PS3 component video cable hooking up their PS2, which they use as a DVD player. However, be careful getting the power supply; as PlasmaFrog mentioned, there were two different versions; the one for the original model, and the one for the slimline. The one for the original model is identical to the one for the original PS1, incidentally.
