I looked on the search bar and couldnt find anything

just wondering if anyone else here has had problems with the audio just dying for no reason?

The hdmi cable works fine (tested it with other devices) and used the AV cables on the ps3 and still no sound, reset the system to default...still no sound...

it isnt my ps3 btw it is my brothers but just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? and what you had to do to fix it? and is this a major bug in the PS3 system that has gone un-noticed by the public (unlike the RRoD)? and is the "improved audio" in the ps3 slim a fix to this bug?

I doubt it is a bug. Either a hardware problem or bad configuration.
When you changed to AV cables, did you change it in the audio settings of your ps3 aswell?
Did you uncheck the DTS option?

You might have better luck googling this problem though.

Could be the new software update 3.00. There have been a number of other documented problems with it since its release. Search on Google but otherwise just see if Sony fixes it in the next (and imminent) update.
