So I want to buy a Blu-Ray from ebay, but it's region 1 coded (US and Canada, I believe?). My question is, will it work on my Australian PS3? It's a PS3 Slim, if that helps. I know it plays DVDs from America, so it should play Blu Rays, right? Just need to know before I go out and spend money on this movie.

The majority of Blu-ray movies are region coded, and it won't work if you are not from the same region.

I would do research on the particular movie, and see if it is region coded or not. If it is, you want to find a copy that is from "Region B/2". That is what will work on your PS3.

Unless it's a region B disc, or it's region free, you won't be able to play it.

A fair few Blu-ray discs are region free - sometimes without informing about it - and there are some retailers which specifically check each disc for this (like this one [http://www.axelmusic.com/bluray]). You can try searching out more information on the region coding of the particular release of the title you want either at such retailers or some reviews of the blu-ray release, but if it says it's region A, then as a point of departure you won't be able to play it.
