Okay ill try and give u all the short story, i have a ps3,and 3 controllers for it,i use my ps3 about once every millenium, but now and again i go on it,recently i went to play little big plannet with my brother and found that i had lost one controller, and one of the other two's thumb sticks went really sticky,i had put this down too it being in my dity bookshelf for months, but i just went to pick up my one working controller, which i have kept on my pc desk and used about two weeks ago and it was fine, and now its thumb sticks have also gone sticky

Has anyone else ever had this problem, does it happen to ps3 controllers over time or something? can anyone help please?

Is it really hot in your room? The plastic on the analog sticks could have melted a little bit...

*Avoiding rude joke..*

I know what you mean though, happens with my PS2 controller nwo and then. I think its dust getting inside the pad somehow, making it hard to turn? That, or your brother has been using your PS3 without washing his hands.

I got my PS2 controller leaking what looks like lubricant from the sticks if I've not used it a long time. Makes it all sticky and shit. *ewwww*

i never really understood why sony insisted on having the gooey feeling sticks, they can claim its for extra grip, but i have never in all my life as a gamer had trouble with fingures slipping off sticks xD

Nah, me neither, it's just totally gross. The pads are A-ok, never had problems with those, but the balljoints get messy a lot. Funny thing is that it doesn't leak when I use it. Weird.

This has never happened to me. Perhaps you got something in them? Before we had the PS3, my brother and his friend got cheese dust from Cheetos in the analog sticks, and I had to pay for new ones. I was ready to tear him a new asshole. And that's why he doesn't get to play my PS3.

ps2 controllers are easy to service but ps3 are a real ***** to open up and clean the sticking sticks also cleaning stops the annoying stick squeak

I've had this issue both with my PS2 and PS3.

After ages of not using my PS2 I noticed the analog sticks on one of my controllers had become quite sticky (not stiff, but actually sticky to the touch.) I assumed something had been spilt on it, then a few weeks later I found the other controller, and it was in the same condition.

Now for the case of the PS3 sticky analog sticks haven't been too much of an issue, although I have noticed it now and again.

But I just used my PS3 a second ago after not using it for 3 weeks, and sure enough sticky analog sticks. But more than that. I can literally see a fine layer of liquid on the surface of the sticks which I was able to rub off with my finger. No-one has used my PS3 in the last 3 weeks and it's incredibly unlikely that anything was spilt on the controllers.

It seems, with lack of use, PS3 analog sticks become coated with a sticky liquid. Which seems like quite a design fault in my opinion.
