PS3 Delay?

I have been playing Black Ops on my PS3 and something has really been bothering me about the whole PS3 online. Any FPS I play has horrible delay in my shooting. Example: I will run around shoot someone 5 times they turn around shoot me once and I die. I'm pissed so I watch the kill cam. The kill cam shows them reacting to me shooting them then turning around shooting me for way longer than it showed when I was alive and it a little more reasonable.

Now turn around and on my buddies Xbox Live account I shoot someone 5 times they turn around and shoot me but this time it shows me getting hit more than one so I have a chance to survive.

So my question to y'all here at the escapist is have y'all noticed a difference in the PS3 Online and X-box live. Either reaction time, game lag, game latency, or am I going crazy?

Edited: Title changed because I did't want people to think I was "starting a flame war" just looking for some info from other people with experience with online for both systems.

Black Ops is overall laggy on every system. Its not the PS3. I dobn't experieence lag anywhere else other then in MW2 and Black Ops. Probably because of the p2p system implemented.

I tried to play Bioshock 2 online with PSN and it was one of the worst experiences ever, was hoping multiplayer would be a saving grace for the game but it soon found its way back to the shop

It was incredibly laggy and took forever to find and connect to a game, although I also played Uncharted 2, and while it took a long time to connect to PSN the game itself ran rather well

Maybe it's the game? Bioshock 2 is multiplatform so it might have sucked more on PSN, whereas Uncharted 2 is made specifically for PS3 so it might work better, who knows?

CoD is definitley multiplatform, I've never had any serious issues on XBL with it aside from a bad host, though I've never played anything on PSN that isn't PS3-exclusive besides Bioshock 2

The difference with PSN and XBL is that XBL handles the servers themselves, which is what your subscription fees go towards. PSN doesn't handle the game servers, that is left up to the developer/publisher of the game. So while some devs will actually put the effort into running a good server, other won't. Despite being the largest video game publisher, Activision obviously didn't invest enough in it's own servers for the game.

The connections are hosted by players, not Sony or Microsoft. You connection in the game depends on how good you internet is as well as you distance from the host. Join a game in another country and check your connection then.

Simple solution is to upgrade you internet. When I jumped from ADSL2 to Cable my connection went through the roof. No lag ever and hosting every game.

Also vs thread are not a great idea..

Thank you I could never find a clear answer on what was the problem.

Oh I forgot to add: If you press SELECT in the multiplayer menu, you can change the region searching preferences for matchmaking. Switch it to local only and you should be set!
