Esc. Apist. Hello.

Right, so, my PS3 has really been through the wars lately, and he came back from hospital yesterday. The guys had to weld his insides quite heavily, which means he's more prone to overheating, and if that happens, it's pretty much bye bye Playstation. HE MUST BE KEPT COOL.

So I saw that you can buy these exterior fans for the PS3...

Are they worth getting? Do they work? Any specific one's that I should look in to getting?

Cheers guys, and if you know any other ways of keeping him cool, let me know.

...And yes, he is in the coolest place possible. And yes, he is a he.

Weld his insides? Wtf happened and who fixed it and why does that make it more prone to overheating?

Anyways I don't know about the fans because I've never used one. Never had a problem with overheating. One thing you can do is put it up off the floor so it takes in less dust. Get a can of compressed air for blowing out computers and blow it out every month or so. This helps clear out dust so the fan(s) work better and helps keep the fan(s) from getting clogged. Or if you're really paranoid and don't mind voiding your warranty and doing some hacking open the thing up and install some water cooling.
