PS3 games

I'm looking for a PS3 game that has local and online multi player and hopefully find one that you can have a buddy over and play online with.

Seeing as you good people at the Escapist are so knowledgeable on such things I thought you'd be the folks to ask.

Plz help me.

R6 is a good choice. If you're not in the mood for a shooter, you might try Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Resistance wasn't my personal cup of tea, but several PS3 gamers hold it up as a crowning glory, so you might check that out as well.

I'm assuming you'd want to play split-screen? So yeah;
Resistance is one, Rainbow 6 Vegas is another, Warhawk is good to, I guess Soul Calibur 4, and I think CoD4 has a splitscreen multiplayer.

As for upcoming games, Resistance 2 and I believe Killzone 2 have splitscreen multiplayer (with Killzone 2 supporting bots).

Can't think of to many games that have LAN/Split-screen multiplayer nowadays.

people say the learning curve is steep but just remember 1 thing when flying a warhawk

The Warhawk that is higher will kick more ass.

It's a known dogfighting tactic but most videogame players don't get it.. whenever you swing in too close to an opposing fighter, both you and him will typically enter a circling spiral where you try to aim at each others tail. Whenever this happens, fly vertically straight up into the air until you almost hit the ceiling and then come back down while holding your breaks....

typically they will still be circling for you and you'll have a strait easy shot on them from above. the in-game radar doesn't describe vertical height so unless they use the tactic they'll be confused.... oh, and learn to fly with the on-screen map always on.

Indigo's right about the story, but there is a video that premeired at Leipzig I think that explains the story of the first and starts the second. But you would still be missing out on familiarizing yourself with the universe.

Anyway, Warhawk is great, I might pick it back up now that it's Greatest Hits

EDIT: It does have 4 player split-screen online, which is sweet

Um... The only games I can think of at the moment are...

Released:
-Resistance
-Call Of Duty 4
-Rainbow 6: Vegas

Soon to be released:
-Resistance 2
-Killzone 2

Those are the only games that come off the topa my head. But I would rlly recommend picking up LittleBigPlanet.

I'll say Warhawk as well. The new update coming out includes an offline training mode, so the learning curve shouldn't be as big an issue. And split-screen online does kick ass.

The Agency and DC Universe might also appeal, but only if you want to play MMO's on a console (I for one hope the two versions online communities will be able to interact, or maybe even be one)

Its been confirmed The Agency will not involve cross platform play.

As for a decent co op game. Bionic Commando Rearmed, also available for pc, 360, wii etc
