apparently a young iphone hacker has managed to hack the ps3 at last, he sais that he will soon post the instructions on how online soon.

personally i think this is great, this means more people will be playing pirated games on ps3 more and sony will be forced to drive the price of games down.

You know, can't they sue him for not only admitting he hacked a PS3, but sharing the knowledge so people can do this to?

I really dont think piracy is a good thing. I think you have a very bad view on the economics of the games industry. If the prices go down then they make less money, and considering how much games cost to make as it is game quality will drop.

If you want cheap games buy 2nd hand, or go to Tesco, dont resort to piracy dude.

No, piracy is never a good thing.
It won't drive down game prices. Sony will probably release a system update that will fix what the guy has done. They'll also probably find a way to find out if a system has been hacked, and lock it out of the PSN. That would certainly make some selfish pirates upset, but it will never drive down game prices.

You think it is good that people will now be able to commit crimes?
...
Fine. If that is how that one sees it, fine.
I however cannot see it as a good thing.
Anyway, I'm sure that it''l be kinda like with the 360, so people will get banned if they get caught.
If not worse.

I'm not interested in pirated console games at all. What I am interested in is being able to play PS2 games on my slim. That would be great. Shadow of the Colossus with progressive scan finally!

Join the club. Games are non-essential goods, rather luxuries to waste money on. Of course being (I assume) of college level, you'll likely be pirating software out the ass-- just not games. It's best to hold to what morals you can.

Does the PS3 actually support software emulation for the PS2? I know in the old model's it was played via Emotion Engine.
