So I'm finally been allowed to bring my console to college for the first time right as I got one of my old laptops repaired for practicing command line prompts and virtual machines.
Now, I know that Laptops with HDMI ports can be outputted onto most modern TVs but I was wondering if anyone knew if I could use my Sony Vaio to be a "TV" for the console.
It'd just spare me having to share it with my housemates and setting it up in the living room where it would hog the TV.

Internet, GO!

After doing some Google-fu, the main question is, does your laptop have an HDMI input?

If so, then here's this link that might be of help, and there links on the side to help you out further if that one doesn't help:

If no, then here's this video to get it going:

I hope that helps!

Okay, I tired it but it seems like my HDMI port is output only so I can't input my PS3 onto it.
Don't suppose you know of a way to convert HDMI from output to input?
I'm bothering you because every time I go to google, I keep getting linked stuff from around '09/10 ^^;

When I was googling around yesterday that was something that can't be done without messing up your laptop. So, unfortunately, you're kinda hosed if you wanted to do HDMI.

However, I did come across this...

...So that could be something for you to use and you don't have to use your laptop just in case something bad happens to it.

Other than that, you can always use the EasyCap option I linked to you earlier.

Sorry, I couldn't be much more help.

There is no way to turn an output into an input because your graphics card simply has no hardware to deal with it. What you could do is get a HDTV tuner with an hdmi input for your laptop. However it might be cheaper to get a tv the same size as your laptop screen. Time for you to use your google-fu grasshopper.

That's quite fine, thank you both for your time.
