PS3 Headsets

I have this problem with my PS3 headset, and I'm not sure as to whether its my headset or all in general. Its a standard PS3 Headset, but when I use it my connection basically flatlines, and in COD4 (the game I play most multiplayer on) goes from top green, to red. So just wondering if anyway could help me.

I'm not sure about this. We need more info. Are you using a wired or wireless connection? Can you give us more info on that headset? Any info could be relevant.
