Does anyone know of any PS3 RPGs where you create your own class/race combos other than Dragon Age? Because after that I dont think there is one, at least that I can see!

I was wondering why too, it seems that the trend has went to pre-developed characters that you run thru the game with and/or watch alot of videos and cutscenes with them. I know this is a popular JRPG trend and why many people are down on JRPGs, but I have Final Fantasy 13 and played other ones and like the series and also like the Shin Megami Tensei stuff - so if done right its good. But, right now on the PS3 there seems to be a shortage of RPGs in general and even less to have ones where you "roll up chars" in the old D&D fashion and tackle the adventure that way.

So I ask the question if there are any RPGs where you create your own characters on the PS3, I've only had mine 11 months and since then only Dragon Age Origins is that way. So, if there is an older game thats like this please let me know.. or ones in the future (hopefully) I just hope that the "rolling up a character" doesnt completly go away on consoles in favor of those story driven RPGs that are a dime a dozen.

Sorry, I don't play RPGs much. Dragon age is the only one I know of.
Hooray for being helpful!

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is the only other classic rpg for the new consoles really. Fallout and Mass Effect let you roll a character too, but not in the way you probably are looking for. Other than that I don't know of any.

I'd recommend Oblivion... if it wasn't such a piece of shit.
I'd also recommend Sacred II: Fallen Angel... but it's much better on pc than on ps3 (imo)
-edit- Another game that's currrently in PS3/PSP is a classic PSone game called Vagrant Story.
That lets you pretty much build Ashley however you want in terms of spells, abilities and even building weapons.

i always judge rpgs like this if it has more talking then 50 percent of the game it's not an rpg it's diplomacy simulator 2000 if the rpg has more fetch quests than actually story progressive quests or sidequests that atleast tell you anything usefull it's not an rpg
if the game has 20 recoloured same monster models with changed names and are counted as new enemies it's not an rpg that's why the only rpg's i ever liked are titan's quest, dungeon siege 1 and 2.now im very sad that i wasted my money on dragon age origins it's by far the most boring, unnapealling piece of shit i ever played it's even worse than halo

I have Fallout3 and Oblivion on the PC.. Fallout is good, but I refused to get any expacs on it hurting me i know but I am fine until Vegas comes out. Oblivion I never liked.. I think Morrowind is a much better overall game and have that on the old Xbox and PC and played it not long ago actually.. hehe.

@Hotpotat0wned - Titans Quest I love! it was such an underrated game IMO I had alot of fun in that game building all sorts of characters. Dragon Age was OK.. i had fun with it and even got the expansion - but with all this DLC the game is out of control and I just cant get myself to play the game a second time. I am just sick of Biowares shit really so thats also probably why its just sitting on the bottom of my game pile.

Demon's souls! That's an amazing RPG on the PS3.
It's one of the most challenging games I've played on the PS3 and one of the most polished overall.

Console RPGs aren't known for that. If you want to be able to throw your own character together, the PC is the best place for that.

Other than Fallout and Oblivion, there's not much else on the PS3, since Mass Effect is 360-PC only. Except Demon's Souls, which actually might be just what you're looking for. Final Fantasy XIII doesn't feel like an RPG at some points, but it's there if you want to give it a try.

Also, it's not D&D-like, but you might enjoy Eternal Sonata; it's a JRPG with a very strong plot.

(Also, Persona 5 is coming out for PS3 sometime in the near-ish future, so get ready for that.)

It is pretty pathetic, though. The PS2 was a haven of awesome JRPGs, but rising costs for game development have pretty much eliminated that. The PS3 has next to nothing in the way of good RPGs, compared to the other genres (coughcoughFPScoughcough) that are overflowing.

Sweet Persona 5 will be awesome!

Sorry guys I forgot to say I had Demons Souls.. I love the game to death and it pretty much made me love Atlus as a dev company. Looks like I have to wait and try another Demons Souls playthrough for now.. and try to catch a deal on Eternal Sonata and/or Star Ocean
