Nevertheless I'm not at all suprised about this announcement, as with everyone else here. I'm pretty certain Sony will STILL be in third place though... sadness, they've put so much effort into solving all the problems of the PS3... we say not enough games, they give us more games... we say its too expensive and big, they make it smaller and cheaper... and they're still not going to sell

Does anyone know if this is just the same physical hardware in reduced size? Any chance they re-added the emotion chip for PS2 compatibility? With the recent reports that their costs have dropped I have really hoped they would re-add that in the Slim model.

Yeah, but Nintendo was reselling Gameboy as Gameboy Color and Gameboy Pocket when Sony was busy making VCRs.

Yep, I still don't buy it. Sure it's on the official site, but this could just be an oversight by the management and it's just not been deleted yet. I will forever remain the skeptic until something a bit more official is sitting directly in my face.

I'm not here to incite a flamewar, I desperately want a PS3 someday, but I like so so many others have been burned by Sony's latest schemes that I won't commit to its existence until a public announcement by someone in charge tells me otherwise.

It's real. I've seen a picture of Kaz Hirai holding it up on stage. It's damn ugly though. It looks like some kind of fake Indonesian PS3 kock off.
