PS3 store crashing consoles

Hi. Looks like Sony has an issue with the PS3s store. At least in Europe. Upon opening the store the it will open the blue background with "PlayStation Store Search Cart" at the top right and freeze. The controller won't respond. Manual shutdown is required.

The thread started last Saturday and is on-going. Sony has replied with the following post:

After reading the replies, yeah this is pretty bad. Good thing I've not been on my PS3 in about a month now.
In all seriousness, I hope that this gets fixed soon since people are losing their saves apparently. Personally, I'm don't mind if I lose saves or not because I generally delete my saves over time anyway, but I can still understand that it would suck.

Is it only affecting European PS3's, because if it were affecting everyone we'd probably be hearing more about it.

Edit: After doing more research it would appear that the new PS4 2.0 update is borking as well, which could probably be tied to this.Reminds me of a similar thing happened with the Wii Update 4.2 back in 2009.

Issue seems to be resolved. Store works again for me after the latest patch.
