Recently Chart-Track has told GamesIndustry.biz that sales of the PlayStation 3 have rocketed 999 per cent over the past week. All thanks to the slim

When I first saw this I was shock at how just dropping another 100 can increase sales this much.

To me though it seems a little ify since they wont show the actual numbers.What are your thoughts about this news.

360: threw systems out as fast as they could.

Wii: slow IV fluid drip technique, basically kept the system desirable by making it some what exclusive.

PS3: Didn't have much to begin with, now they do and people want that.

You know, if I sell today 1 cookie, and then tomorrow I sell 2 cookies that means I`ve doubled my sells : 200% baby!

Isn't too big of a surprise. A price drop that makes the 360 and Wii look overpriced on a console that is typically viewed as having more features would probably lead to more sales. And I have heard about them suddenly being sold out in a bunch of retailers.

It's only up 999% against the previous week though, when nobody would have been buying because they knew the slim was out next week, so it doesn't really mean anything.

The real acid test for the Slim will the month up to christmas, if they outsell the Xbox convincingly then or (whisper it) outsell the Wii at all then they've made it. But as it stands this is just corporate spin.

Well that's because they were already selling at a loss so dropping the price for the console will result in the them losing even more money that would be harder to cover with by selling games.

Now that they have streamlined the PS3 they can make it for a lower cost to themselves and thus sell it for cheaper.

Sony cuts price = they loose even more money on each ps3 sold.

Bill gates knows this, and went to buy as many PS3s as possible, not only to make sony loose money, cause sony makes money from games and stuff, not the console so if Bill buys them, and burns them, there ain't gonna be made money off of them, he bought everythiing the stores had so normal people couldn't get them.

I'm pretty sure this is what happened, i read it in the intestines of the rat i found in my happy meal.
