I purchased a PS3 in early March of this year. Early on I could not receive a strong wireless signal from my router which is probably 5 years old. However, the two laptops and desktop as well as an Ipod Touch and PSP 2000 and occasionally another laptop have all used the signal with no trouble other than the occasional dropped connection, which is easily fixed.
My PS3 was first inside an open air cabinet where it received a signal of about 27% on average. I later moved it so it stood upright on a table next to the TV to see if the connection would change. In fact the actual connection worked better but at times would not connect well and still received a 27% signal or lower. Later for different reasons it had a temporary home in my basement. The connection connected even better, but still was a little buggy and about 27%. Whenever I download firmware or demos of the PSN it is extremely slow. However, my PSP has no problem in demos in the same locations. I see no reason for why this happens. Anyone who is better at Wifi/internet connections have any ideas?
I also have tried:
changing the maximum port speed to a little lower on my 2.4 GHZ Wireless-G linksys.
And turning of the PS3 Media Server or whatever it is I have no clue.
Any ideas would be great!
