Now as a consumer, why should I care?
More sales = More support = More creative leeway for developers

There is a reason there were so many good games in so many different genres on the PS2 - it was a sales monster. The stock titles we are used to seeing - the Halos, the Gran Turismo's, etc. are going to get made regardless. If there are enough sales to allow a developer to get creative and hit a niche, the better for games. This is much more likely to happen when there is a 50M user base to sell to rather than a 5M user base. With a 5M user base, you can't take that risk - with a 50M base you can.

Sony just reported that they are over 2.1M sold-through worldwide, which is roughly 40% above the Xbox One so far. They should maintain that lead in absolute numbers going forward for the next few months and if they are getting better yields than Microsoft, that could grow.

You may want to use commas (,) instead of full stops (.) when separating the zeroes in thousand figure numbers, as full stops act as decimal points.
Some regions use full stops instead of commas (continental Europe, I believe).

Please do not quote spambots. You're only spreading the spam links around when you do that. (I've had to edit it out of your post)

If you wanted to reply to that question, you should've quoted the 2nd post in this thread, 3rd paragraph.
Whoops - I didn't see that link when I quoted (I don't think it was there, since it didn't appear quoted in my post).

Congratulations on the most successful console release of all time, Sony.

That's actually less than I was expecting. Only 1 in about 25 people? I was expecting about 1M sales, gaming is pretty mainstream here. Maybe the late release, crappy games and limited availability over here were contributing factors... just a thought.
Lol, what were you expecting?

Stock is totally gone, you can only sell what you can psychically manufacture. People are queued up for the next batch before Xmas = truthfact. Just a thought.

... and this is why e-sports isn't popular in the UK.
You're going to have to elaborate on that as I'm not following your logic...

Could you explain more, please?

I read that during the Black Friday sale it was XB1 consoles that sold the most? Either way its good to see the PS4 selling well. Personally i have no interest in buying a PS4 and will pick up an XB1 late next year. Regardless of all the negative XB1 news this year, it has the games i want to play and thus the PS4 would be a waste of money.

Quite simply, there was stock of the Xbox One on Black Friday while PS4 was already sold out. No stock = No sales.
