I only checked the prices right after the official word from Sony got in. The prices were quite offensively high, compared to, say, the communicated prices for the USA region.

I will not pre-order nor will I stand in line when the first batch gets here. Instead, I will finish up the 500+ hours of gameplay I still got ahead of me with the games I am currently playing, the games I just got through the latest two bundles and, of course, the 200 or so hours of gaming goodness from Dark Souls II. Once that's done, I'll either buy second hand, find a good deal near me or import the thing myself. We'll see. It's a problem of the future and I am very much living in the now... or the past.

Is there a large need of Computer Network Security Majors in Norway? Penetration Testing or some such? If so, I may move to Norway if you get really good pay and 600+ USD is considered cheap as shit.
Well, I can't be certain, but they are redesigning the security when it comes to online banking so there might be a need for such.

However I have to disappoint you. While our wages are high so is our prices. Yesterday I had a pretty cheap dinner for one, it cost about 15 USD. I had expired (still good) salmon. I think you'd get decent pay though.

OT: Same as OP (price and country). I am a student living off my loan. I could buy the PS4 is I decided not to pay my phone bill, internet bill or go without food for the month since my rent + PS4 is about the same as I get every month. Also I am saving most of my money for laser eye surgery.

£349, but at todays exchange rate $400 is £248 so, no that's shite :(
And even now there's never a proper explanation as to why the UK market always has this sort of mark-up over the US pricing despite being a big electronics consumer. And no, it isn't just UK tax before anyone starts on that line.

I'm just surprised (and thankful) they didn't do the usual Sony trick and simply change the $ for a £ sign....

Still, there is a silver lining. The UK is certainly not the highest cost place to buy this. Not even close. I feel for you, gaming brothers and sisters.

399 Euros, Italy.

Yeah, I must admit I'm satisfied with the price. I'd say it's the meeting point for a customer's money and the producer's needs. But I guess I will throw in some more granola and take one with a bigger hard-disk AND Second Son. (gonna buy it next year) Also, I'm still set on buying this anyway just to give the middle finger to Microsoft. I didn't forget...

$399 USD here, with two games it comes to about $520 USD. I make $1560 USD a month, so it wasn't that hard to pay off, considering I've been putting a little money on it every week since E3.

I could have afforded the Xbox One as well, but I don't want to. >.>

A quick google reveals a price of approx £350 in the UK, which works out as approx £563 dollars.

I make about £2000 a month after tax, which is slightly above the national average, but still puts me under plenty of financial pressure (we've got a pretty big divide in the UK between the Haves and the Have-slightly-lesses... Basically it couldn't be a worse time to be middle class here).

After Mortgage, bills, food, etc, etc, etc, I've probably got enough to get a PS4 on a months wages, but it'd cut into my drinking.

And I fucking love drinking.

Well, it's $400 US. Lets just say I make more than that in a week...

Don't be jealous just, yet. I also have bills totaling a bit over $1000 a month. I paid off the price $20 a week at a time, after the $100 for the reservation. Just finished paying it off last weekend.

And personally, I'm happy with the price. I would have loved for it to be $300, but I knew that was wishful thinking. So, $400 is manageable.
