Whilst I'm in one mind to defend Sony... I kind of can't. PSN is down and I'm being hit because I can't buy any DLC. Let's face it, there aren't that many games worth playing online on the PS3 anyway; it just sucks having the store down!

Personally, I am more annoyed at the idiots who felt that they needed to show their displeasure with Sony by doing something that even an infant could realie would hurt Sony's customers. Sony did the sensible thing and pulled the hacked service to tighten its' security. We should be upset with the part of Anonymous that performed the hacking, they are the once that are taking away our happy online gaming time in the end. Because I am pretty certain Sony isn't pulling down their Cashcow because they think it is fun to piss off their customers.

This entire issue is out of hand. I'm half tempted to buy an XBOX since I've always been a Halo fan of sorts and now I can play almost all my favorite games on the 360. I don't see much point staying with Sony after they failed to make a true Socom with Socom4.

(No one wanted to play Socom with a Wii controller! /rant)

I would do it, the money from LIVE is used to make the service better and better + DLC before other systems is nice as well

Once I looked at the xboxlive fee I don't see why I shouldn't. 5 bucks a month is nothing when compared to other forms of entertainment. I just hope I'm not too late to the Halo:Reach party. :)

When blops came out the numbers did go down alot, however the numbers are going up again now.

also the layout is nicer on the eyes, the avatars do work, there are less updates that do more and last of all Microsoft tells you when something is wrong straightaway

I had a positive experience a few years back. I really only bought into Sony again for the BR player and for Socom. With the network failure and the destruction of Socom I think I will make that jump. :D

Give it say... 3 weeks and we'll all be back online. We're busy enriching the world with Gears 3 beta at the minute.

I don't really mind the PSN being down, I've never used the store and I don't play much online. However, I am baffled that the Steam functionality is tied to the PSN, and I'm quite annoyed how I can't claim my PC copy of Portal 2 because I can't connect to the PSN. That's what's got me mad.

Also, it's a huge deal that Sony still doesn't know if people's credit card details are safe. That's very bad indeed.

Whoever got into their system probably did a number on it to cover their tracks. Even if they didn't get credit card numbers theres always the chance the hackers got PSNid info. While its not as serious as credit card data it could certainly be used to pirate millions of games once PSN is back up. A username/password dump on a bunch of sites would cause further chaos. I wouldn't doubt it if Sony requires everyone to change their passwords.

My only issue with it being down is that most games require a patch of some sort. I figured I would get around to playing Red Dead Redemption some more but I don't have the latest update. Oh well.

I know that it sucks for the people that do multiplayer, and I know that I will get at least one response to this statement, but in all honesty, the PSN being down has not affected my playing habits in the least. The only thing I've used it for is to get new updates to games, as well as download a game when I feel like it.

Most of the games I play are RPGs, many of which don't even have multiplayer in them. If I want to play a fighting game against someone else, I go to an arcade, or a Dave and Busters. On the rare occasion that I do multiplayer, it is usually local multiplayer, where all of my buddies are in the same room. That way, if they do something stupid, I can walk over to them and give them a love tap.

More to the point, I do not care about multiplayer, and no amount of telling me your experiences with it has changed my mind in the least. I mean that: when people respond to my antipathy to multiplayer, they always tell me why they like it. They never tell me why I should care.

I'm pretty sure those particular updates(if you're referring to firmware) are on the disk, so no need for the psn to be online for that. If your referring to some game breaking bug in the core product and need it patched to be playable, that... might be a problem.
