My only issue with it being down is that most games require a patch of some sort. I figured I would get around to playing Red Dead Redemption some more but I don't have the latest update. Oh well.
I'm pretty sure those particular updates(if you're referring to firmware) are on the disk, so no need for the psn to be online for that. If your referring to some game breaking bug in the core product and need it patched to be playable, that... might be a problem.
I'll try it again but I was getting those "The newest version of this software is required to play." Or whatever it says. Not like I've been particularly bored though, been playing Final Fantasy 4 on my psp.

PSN is pretty worthless anyway.
I'm not missing it too much. My wife and I have been pretty involved in Portal 2 lately.
That Penny Arcade comic is hilarious but I have to say that this Butler guy is definitely the least insulting marketing campaign I've ever seen for anything playstation... remember "all I want for xmas is a psp?"

Great little comic there.

Although single player IS where it's at, like Yahtzee says a game should be able to stand on its single player alone so not being able to play online for a while shouldn't be such a problem if you've got a genuinely good game.
