PSP analog trouble

I was suddenly going to play Monster Hunter portable 2 on my psp, but when I got into game my character keeps walking down and I noticed my analog wont move downwards and only up, left, and right but my character will only walk down. and the analog stick seems like its stuck but it was just working yesterday and I have done nothing that could have cause this. anyone know how to fix this? that doesnt require me to take apart my psp. it seems like something is not letting it go down.

(also this is a phat psp, not a slim, or the go.)

Hmmm. My old Phat seemed to be becoming like that before I switched to the GO. It would like to stick going down, forcing me to walk down until I corrected it.

I suggest pushing it all the way up or trying to pull it out just a little bit. Other than that, I've no real clue.

Oh yeah, I had this problem with my psp. The only advise I can offer is get a slim because eventually the analog on the phat is just gonna wear out.

though this may be going against what I said above, some people say if you unscrew the top of the psp, you can clean around the analog stick to make it work.

also forgot to mention this is a new rerubished one I got, just last year...
