PSP and PSP games

My friend plans on purchasing a PSP soon, what would you say is the best version of the PSP, and what are some great games for it?

Edit: Thanks for the replies so far, I thought I should add that he is a MASTER at rpg games, Western and Japanese, from oblivion to Persona, he loves well made stealth games, not sure if he would like shooting games, no sports games, and he probably likes anything else, so if that helps keep adding!

PSP 3000 for sure, the Go is terrible.

Or you could wait for the PS Vita or whatever it'll be called.

PSP 3000 is good. As a JRPG player I can make a lot of recommendations. I think nowadays PSP might be the best place to find newer JRPGs that still have some old school appeal. Here is my JRPG PSP library-

Ok he told me that he heard the PSP 3000 had some screen problems or some kind of problem, is this true and if not how does it succeed the PSP 2000 or whatever was before it?

if you like fps games, I got a kick out of Coded Arms when I tried it on my friend's psp. It's dirt cheap now, too. give that one a shot
