Even £99 for the PSPgo is a rip off to the consumer.

Buy a PSP-2000 or PSP-3000, at least then you have the option of both UMD and Dig-Dist games.
No, it's a rip-off to you. But I don't like having to lug around endless UMDs to play a selection of games. I don't like how flimsy and fragile the PSP was. The PSPgo is addressing that balance.

Some people like big cars with lots of bells and whistles, some like smaller cars with the basics and a difference design. Life is great when we have choice. If anything, Sony is giving us more choice than rip us off.
Ugg, you DON'T GET IT.

Even with the PSP-1000 you don't NEED the actual UMD any more since you can buy a 16GB Pro Duo memory card for £35/$40 and download the exact same games for PSPgo as for PSP-1000, PSP-2000 or PSP-3000. In fact going the Original PSP route offers far more flexibility as you can use 1x 8GB memory card, several or any size that is convenient for you.

Weight savings with PSPgo are BARELY AN OUNCE over the PSP-2000 and the only dimension there is a real space saving is in width, only 25% smaller. PSPgo also looks pretty flimsy with that sliding screen thing compared to the completely solid Original PSP.

Very well, if what you are saying is correct then you were right and I am wrong. I didn't realise you could legally download games on the old PSPs. I didn't do that when I owned one.

Yes, here is a list of all the games available, just remember to sort by region:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_downloadable_PlayStation_games#PSP_games

Also these PSOne Classics can be bought and the same copy either played on PS3 or PSP.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PSOne_Classics

There is no distinction whether the game is for PSP or PSPgo, they can be downloaded and played on any PSP.

As you can see from the list, Europe gets quite a bit screwed over in terms of region locked releases which leaves me as a UK resident pretty pissed off as the only PSOne classics I even like the look of are Syphon Filter and Future Cop LAPD.

It also pisses me off that classic or otherwise simple games sold on PSN like Wolfenstein 3D are not available on PSP or even the PSPgo!

This is part of the reason I have no time for PSPgo, after Sony has shown complete incompetence in offering an appealing game library for the regular PSP in terms of digital downloads.

This is a problem I see all the time with Sony as it evident in their pedigree, unlike Microsoft which is mainly a software company, Sony is mainly a hardware company where they have consistently tried to engineer their way out of each quagmire with a new hardware solution but again and again they fail to get the software side up to standards.

They know how to get some stylish photography in there but is badly put together in terms of human engineering and practicality. I could go into more detail of how Sony fails in the PSN department but it would be off topic but more importantly it's late for me.

I hope you find my links helpful.
