This sums up my feelings [http://uk.gamespy.com/articles/100/1002471p1.html] on the subject of the console wars. You see it anywhere is video game related news, someone will play the fanboy and entice others to argue. It's always the same arguments (as stated by the table in the link, with exception to some of the Wii parts), and in the end it's always a stalemate. I know some people feel the need to validate their purchases to themselves and others but really in the end it's just a sad existence. We're supposed to be gamers, we're supposed to love all games. If a good game comes out for one console, we shouldn't get into arguments over it simply because we can't play it. We should enjoy the games we have for our own respective machine. So I guess my question is:Do you love all games equally, regardless of console exclusivity? Is there really a need to try to devalue a good game simply because you can't play it on your own console?

I don't really care about exclusives or being a raging fanboy for my console of choice.

I plug it into the wall, I play game on it. It's not a penis extension or some kind of holy Icon I must bare.

Agreed. During my stint as a game reviewer, I've reviewed games for every current console except the PS3, and that was only because we didn't have access to one. This includes handhelds.

For example, the Metroid Prime games were a blast, and I was super excited for number 3 and loved almost every minute of it. But I also squee'd over Dead Rising and many other 360 games.

Unfortunately, I can't justify buying more consoles, so I'll have to confine myself to my 360 and DS and shed a tear that I won't be able to play Infamous or Madworld or God of War 3.

*sigh* I consider these sort of threads to be just as bad as fanboys. Okay we get it you don't care about a specific brand, no need to slam our faces into it again and again.

I used to be a 30 fanboy, but now when I remember what I was like back then...I feel ashamed. My friend is still a 360 fanboy, and can't accept the fact that other game consoles are fun as well. It really pisses me off when he is blind like that.

For example: I had just finished showing him the Modern Warfare 2 E3 Demo on YouTube, and he was looking through the comments. He saw a comment like this:

"Holy shit, I can't wait for this game, I'm so fucking stoked about it." Underneath that, in the same comment, this person who had done nothing wrong had written their PSN.

I had no problem with this. My friend, however, went "Ah, fucking PS3. Fuck off."

I was like "...dude. Same game. Different system. What the fuck is wrong with you?"

I prefer the 360 tbh, but thats only cos i own one (they were cheaper than ps3 at the time i got it) and i can't really see the difference between the consoles as they mostly have the same games out on them. If there is a Ps3 exclusive game i tend to avoid getting excited about it cos i know i will never get to play it.

I have a 360 and Wii, as well as a PS2 (Ex stole my PS1), N64, GCN, SNES, NES, Xbox, and the best of all, triumping over all the others... My PC. I do not have a PS3. I know the irony of what I'm about to speak, but it's too expensive (For me, not for everyone) for me to justify buying, especially when most of the games I would want to play are on the other current gen systems I own. Now, I do wish I could play Resistance, or try Killzone 2, but they aren't games that'd force me to buy the system. Maybe when the new Team Ico game comes out.

Point being.... I may not have a PS3, but I'm not degrading it for the sake of the other(s). It has it's faults, some of which perclude it from my must buy list, sure, but the Wii isn't the serious gaming plateform, and my 360 hopefully wont die. Nothing, besides my ultimatly perfect PC is perfect. See, not a fanboy....... PC!

I love all games equally, unless they suck, but that's a given. Personally, there are some Xbox games I'd really like for my PS3, and I hate exclusivity, because it just sometimes makes no sense, wouldn't it be a smarter move to market the game to all consoles and gain the most money you can out of a product?

Some of my friends (a good 80 percent of them PS3 owners) heard that FF13 was going to the 360, a few of them flipped and were pissed. I gave an amazing "meh" and told them to suck it up. Xbox owners get the chance at a FF game they might not have, and Square-Enix gets a bit more cash for future projects...win-win right? Some things piss me off though, like exclusive DLC. Rockstar just seems to be hating on the PS3, they won't fix the issues that come with the game on the PS3 side (which might be a problem for 360 owners too, but I'm not sure) which then I tell others, and then others don't get the game for those issues (mostly multiplayer issues).

I realize Rockstar is getting paid by MS to publish exclusive DLC, but it just makes PS3 owners mad that they can't get what 360 owners get, and in the end, the only winners are the Xbox guys, and so the PS3 owners are mad and know how they've been screwed in the past, therefore might think twice about Rockstar's next game.

Personally, I'm just a gaming whore, I accept what happens and keep buying whatever games I want and like...but exclusivity...I can see if Sony or Microsoft is publishing the games, but otherwise, it's pretty lame and retarded.

Thing is, I do care about them and I do have my favorites. I'm not saying this for my own benefit, I'm saying this as a benefit to our subculture. The more you engage in childish fights, the more childish it appears to everyone on the outside. It makes people not take video games seriously and just divides us almost as bad as the retarded "hardcore" and "casual" crap.

I have a very simple solution: Waiting. If it's truly that good, somebody will port it. And if it isn't i'll wait untill the next gen when the emulators roll around.

I hate pro-PS3 people more than the PS3 and I will likely own a PS3 eventually (though barely play it)
Sony CEOs have huge egos and like Bush, are in a crap hole and dare not admit it. There are also many PS3 fans who just irk me, though 360 has them too. PS3 though relies more on established fans anyways, which I am not. I had a PS2, but I did not play MGS or FF. I played Psychonaughts and Shadow of Rome. Once the CEOs humble themselves and cheapen the PS3 enough and maybe be more than a Blu-Ray player, I will get it, and play the good PS3 only.

I'm a 360 owner but acknowledge the good parts of other consoles. Mostly the only time I care about other consoles is when they get a good exclusive, then I'm a wee bit jealous but otherwise I don't pay much attention.

I've been accused of hating on the Xbox or 360 because I own neither, but I have all three Sony consoles and most Nintendo consoles. My answer is already the same:

"I have nothing against the Xbox, but there's not one game on there that *I* personally like that's not already on the PS3. I bought the PS3 because it's the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market."

I could say the same thing about the Wii, but I just can't stand the games or the control scheme, but that's my just personal preference. I will honestly say all three are good, if not great consoles, groundbreaking in their own way. This whole console schism probably started the day you could no longer own ALL consoles of that generation without forking disgusting amounts of cash.

I don't ever remember any console pissing contests when every gamer owned the NES, SNES, Genesis, etc simultaneously, and cross-platforming wasn' that big of an issue.

Pah. I refuse to fight in this generation's console wars.

I'm still getting over the good ol' days, when console wars we're bloody, violent and fought man to man.
I'll always love my Mega Drive.

I want exclusives to stop. I hate them, and I hate companies who promote them. Regarding current gen-consoles, I like them all equally - each for their on reasons.

MegaDrive!!! SNES kicked your ass in the First (Game) War. Don't see you with starfox.
(Jokes, I loved my Sega Megadrive, Herzogz Vwei (sp?) ftw)
Oh, thank god for that. I was about to flame you back into the stone age :D

Why pay more for microsoft's console when you can play most of the games on microsoft's original platform? Bless the PC, with methods of overclocking and upgrade unprecented.

That aside, Nintendo and I go way back. It was my childhood growing up, it was my adolescent years, it was my teenage years, I'm just too rooted to not support them. If they moved their games out to the PS3, then I'd buy a PS3. That said, I borrow my mate's PS3 when there's a title I'm interested in playing, but those are as few and far as the wii's titles are, at least currently. Exclusives and series' are the reasons we still have consoles, and why we still have independent companies. While I personally laugh at the concept of buying any xbox, I'll always watch what nintendo and sony are doing

I like games regardless of what system they're on. although it pisses me off when a game is an exclusive for no reason other than corporate money-grubbing. (obviously, some games have to be exclusives, since different consoles have different unique features- wiimote for the wii, ridiculous system specs for the ps3, functional online play for the 360.) I don't want to shell out huge amounts of money for a system just to play a couple of games, so it annoys me when I can't play games I want without going to a friend's house to use their machine.
Though I mostly play on my computer, and for those the two kinds are "only plays wow" and "plays whatever you want".

the first war went around me, but I am a frontline gamer supporter saying "WE ARE ALL THE SAME"
I don't care if somebody likes PS3 or 360, they are both good consoles, with their own strengths and weaknesses, and I have to admit I do not have a PS3 because personaly I like the 360 better, for the multiplayer and I never got into the PS3 exclusives, so I will probably not get a PS3, but I will not say that it is a bad console.
