Umm.. I was suggested to join the escapist by my friend.. I saw her on the pub club and she seemed like she was having so much fun. uh, I don't really like to post, i'd rather just watch you all.. Wait, that sounded wrong! Sorry! But I was curious about the pub-club and, uh.. should I join? I'm kind of embarrassed to ask my friend and I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be 'worth it'? I know how that sounds and I don't mean it in a mean way!! :( I just saw a few things that made it seem very 'family-like' like how everyone seemed to know each other and all the different topics that was posted... it just seemed so friendly! and I just wanted to know how it is.. I even saw a post with a person making a commission for the pub-club!! I'm sorry for asking but if anyone would answer my question, i'd appreciate it!!.. Sorry!

The Publisher Club subscribers have their own little forum, where only other subscribers can post. That's what makes it even more like a family--only those select people post there.

It means that they get to know each other better, as it is very easy to read every post, as there aren't too many to wade through, unlike in the normal forum.

There are other benefits as well, like no ads, bigger videos and the like.

I wish I could join, but I have no way to pay. I'll still have to wait for a while (Unless I find a way, of course. >_<)

Depends how much time you plan to spend here. If you plan to be on here quite a bit, go nuts and cough up the 20 dollars. If not, then you're probably better off saving your money. The premium items that come with it aren't all that special unless you plan to get your money's worth of them.

It's not worth it.

I seem to spend every waking second on this website, and so far I have yet to see the advantage of a 'special' forum that anyone with more money than sense can join and the videos aren't exactly the latest high definition Pixar flick requiring upgraded graphics. I haven't seen an advert on the videos in months and the forums are absolutely fine.

Unless you really really like the idea of having a bigger picture than basic users and your own special title, don't bother.

Oh, and welcome to the Escapist, stay out of the basement.

Agreed on how much time you plan on spending on this site. If you only watch one or two shows on the site, it's probably not worth spending money to avoid seeing ads. If you watch a lot of shows (I pretty much watch them all) then it's hard to imagine not being a member. High quality video with no ads at all. Not only that, but you get a funny little statistical gaming comic at the bottom of the forum and amusing mottos by numerous posters at the top. Not only that, but at 20 dollars for a year, you're getting a pretty good deal.

(It's all for the custom title, all for the custom title)

Depends on how much time you spend here.

Daily or on a regular basis? Definitely!
Lurking and watching a few vids every now and then? Best save your money.

I was really hoping this would be an in depth comparison of Pubs and Clubs. I am a little disappointed. But as for the Publisher's Club, I never spent anything for this site and I do not plan too.

My sentiments exactly, we should start our own pub vs club comparison thread, no?

PUBS BOY-O

Clubs are only good for hooking up.

OT: But dude, the day I spend money to use a forum...
I also vote pubs! I like being able to talk with whoever I'm there with, or at least eat something. Dancing is not my forte.

I vote pubs also, several reasons:
1. I'm one of those few girls who hates dancing,
2. You're more likely to find more down to earth people in a pub than a club,
3. you can converse in a pub,
4. there's a lot less chance of deceptive lighting leading to unfortunate decisions.

Mmm.. I see, sorry for disappointing some of you guys, I just wanted to know if it was worth it... I really didn't mean to mislead some of you boys.. but, thank you for your input.. It was great to hear the opinion of another girl about the pub-club! Thanks in advance and i'm SO sorry about causing any friction... I just wanted some information and ALL of you have been very helpful so thank you to: Marter, maddawgIAJI, MelasZephoes, Wolfenbarg, Mr Montmorency, Nouw, MintyNinja, TU4AR, and espeically Ironrose!!!

Mmm... I was wondering if there were more members from the pun-club who could let me know about the positives about joining the pub club.. Also.. the idea about the pub-club group 'art-work' really got me interested, I mean, the idea of being in a piece of art seemed really... Great! Thank you and I hope you boys will help me, oh! and girls too! :D

Yay, I'm special, especially special even! Also you don't need to apologise so much, you'll turn yourself into a dogsbody that way. o_O

I hardly post anymore, and I hardly post in the Pub Club forums, but there are a huge number of perks which make the subscription worthwhile: lack of ads, no more captcha phrases (or whatever they're called), larger videos, podcasts, and... my personal fave: reserved slots on the Escapist TF2 server.
Besides, it's only 20$, which amounted to 14? for me. I spent more than twice that for groceries alone this morning! Totally worth it, even if you aren't posting.

I joined during Desert Bus For Hope when the Escapist was donating half the joining fee for charity.
I'm probably going to re-subscribe. Why? Because for roughly £12.50 I could do a hell of a lot worse.
