My fiancee wants one but I don't quite see the charm and as far as I know they tend to have some health problems that would be off-putting for me.

All pure breeds have problems, that's why I want a Pug cross breed with something else

I'm not a big fan of dogs, but I hate any breed with that smushed face. Pugs included. Not to mention they slobber way to much and I hate cleaning piles of drool off the floor.

That's not a pug that's a Shar pei. They're fighting dogs and much larger in size - how did you get this confused?

A Pug.
Both breeds are supposed to be quite stubborn, Shar pei are larger so I imagine previous experience with big dogs is essential and Pugs characteristic squished nose can cause them breathing problems (I heard from a helper at school that they are spectacular snorers ). I guess like any dog they just have to be well trained and cared for and you have a loving family pet.

I know the difference, But I just wanted to see the reaction of pug fans everywhere.
My name isn't TEAM STAR PUG for nothing. Exept it isn't really team star pug... oh you get the idea.
