Could we get some foley sound here? Seriously?

I can already tell that namek was a healer and this game is going to be a grindfest. Dragon Ball does not instantly make for good source material when making an MMORPG and it looks like we won't see anything different from the norm which is a waste. I wish they wouldn't have even released a trailer because that was just sad.

Is it me... or does the "animation" in that video seem a tad bit... "over-zealous"?
I mean... things seemed a little bit TOO willing to wiggle and move.. even their clothing.. like it was... too fast lol I dont know how to describe it, but it made me.. uncomfortable.

And what is with the "3 Musketeers Ride Again!" music?? My dragonball memories are filled with crunchy guitar riffs and metal solos?!

OMG I cant wait for this game! Will I be able to hold onto the edge of a rope bridge, and ride on the fan-blades of a mill too!?

This looks like super awesome fun to escape gritty realism of boring life with no rope-bridges.

Also.. um.. can I choose to side with Vegeta instead? Kthxbye!

What does the scouter say about it's power level though?
Since nobody else is going to do it.......

ITS OVER 9000!
Actually, it's over 8000. The 9000 thing was an improper translation.

Which I think a lot of people actually knew, by now (they only left it in the re-dub because it's awesome).

Anyway, as much as this would rock, I wish they'd bring the Hokuto no Ken MMO over, even for just a short time. I'd play the hell out of both of them (DB I would punch T-Rex's in the face, and HnK MMO I'd make people explode by poking them. Awesome).

Edit: Ninja'd on the power level thing.

Looks pretty, but what's with all the goofy expressions on their faces? Everyone seems really surprised.

If this game ever comes to the U.S. it better let me turn into a giant monkey or else I'm gonna be pissed.

Man this looks great, and it'd be nice to see it in released in the West.

Also, Dinosaur Punch, Go!

This just makes me sad that Toei Animation shut down the "Dragonball Z: The Abridged Series" YouTube channel. :-(
It's OK, they set up a new account, so they'll be reuploading the videos at some point, I imagine.

Hey Vegeta, look! A Pokemon.
I'm not a Pokemon, I'm Chiaotzu. Chiaotzu!
Hey Vegeta, a Chiaotzu. I'm gonna catch it.
Aww, he used Self-Destruct, Vegeta. I hate it when they do that.

I've been watching this game for a while, glad to see it's not dead!

Dragon Ball Z is the perfect fit to the RPG formula really, it exemplifies the *DING* YOU ARE NOW STRONGER! mentality. The main issue is keeping the action free flowing because lets face it, traditional MMO combat would not be cool. A couple things though...

Okay, okay - I'll be the first to admit that Dragon Ball Z was a guilty pleasure of mine when I was a bit younger, because as ridiculous as the whole "power up for three episodes, then kick a guy through a mountain" formula was, it was also kind of ridiculously fun.
I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels this way! Welcome to the brotherhood.

So the game takes place 200 years in the future from the end of the series, but there's apparently time travel in the mix or something, because the original cast will be returning as NPCs (at least Goku and Vegeta, probably more). Judging from the trailer, the game looks decent, has a cool-looking world, and some more-than-half-decent music to go along with it.
Goku and Master Roshi are both immortal due to drinking the water of eternal life in the original Dragonball. Piccolo doesn't age. Vegeta, who knows.

I found some gameplay footage, skip ahead to the 1:20 mark.

I've never heard any indication of Saiyans not aging. They certainly seem to get older. They all sure as hell grow mustaches.

But it's possible they don't, seeing as they wouldn't need to since most of them die in battle.

I'm glad someone brought up the age thing because I was about to. The details are still pretty hazy though.

Well if you get anywhere near as powerful as they are in the TV show then the game land will be a barren wasteland and then it will be blown up after the first week. I mean I watched one of the first episodes of DBZ and Piccolo blows up the F**KING MOON with the same effort I would use to move a Bookcase.

I like to think he actually didn't blow up the moon just... I dunno, flashbanged the giant monkey. Seeing as blowing up the moon would doom the earth.

Planet destruction really didn't come in until Freiza, before that badass guys just blew up mountains.

T-Rex punching is great and all, but how could it be Dragonball without this hallmark? It was practically required for someone to get thrown through a mountain each episode, to the point where I started wondering "Where the fuck are all these mountains coming from?"

Seriously. Last time I checked, mountains didn't have a +4 Ring of Regeneration.
