I own an Xbox 360 and just got my gaming rig back up. What are some good pure PC games? I don't want any bad ports from consoles, for example Modern Warfare 2. They should also be fairly recent. I own TF2, most other Source games and Company of Heroes.

My rig:

Intel Core 2 Quad 8300
4 gigabyte Ram
Nvidia GeForce GT240

Is this good enough for Bad Company 2?

Absolutely, have fun.

Supreme Commander 2 is a good huge-scale RTS. Warhammer: Dawn of War 2 is a good RTT.

Tell you what, go on steam and look up "THQ Complete Pack", buy it.

King's Bounty: The Legend is a good PC title that was pretty recent. You can't go wrong with the Total War series either!

If you're looking for an FPS game then Crysis is a must. FEAR 1 if you haven't played it yet. Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is pretty good if you're into western FPS. RPG - most recent Dragon Age: Origins which beats the living crap out of it's console counterpart. Fallout 3 is better on PC, Oblivion as well. They both have a lot of mods. Just visit TES Nexus or Fallout 3 Nexus for mods and see for yourself the amount of mods is crazy. I would also recommend Just Cause 2 on PC. It's amazing how stable that game is. 65 hours played, not a single fps drop or freeze. Runs like a charm.
One game I'm playing like crazy is Knights of Honor. It's a strategy game. Very complex and awesome even if it's not your regular cup of tea. I've seen pure FPS gamers playing KoH and loving it.

Also, your PC should have no problems running Bad company 2.

Didn't know MW2 was a port, thought it was designed for both consoles and PC. Even if it is, it's extremely well done and I can't see anything wrong with it that I could shout "effing shitty port!" at :\

Anyway, my intent ain't to troll but just surprised so constructive feedback ahead! Your PC's more than fine for BC2, I played it on mine and it's quite a bit behind yours. I'm afraid I can't suggest you many "pureblood" games though simply because the question is odd... If I thought the game was a shitty port from a console, I wouldn't recommend it anyway, but unless I can tell that from playing it, I can't say for sure "hey, this was designed for PC and PC only" or "this is not just an awesome port" cause I don't look for that info on a game :p

If you liked Diablo 2, Torchlight is a great alternative until Diablo 3 comes out.
Three classes, Warrior guy, Mage guy, and girl with a gun...And a doggy!!
It should be only $10 on steam right now, if not, $20

Hotwheels on Crack?
Download Trackmania Nations Forever

I'm not saying it's a bad port. I love the Modern Warfare series on any platform. I just prefer playing Call of Duty on the console. Playing COD with a mouse is too twitchy for me.

My xbox 360 is still my main gaming platform. That's why I would get most games on there, but I know there are a bunch of great pc titles whos console counterparts aren't as good. See Dragon Age Origins.

Try the s.t.a.l.k.e.r. series. It's sort of like fallout, except its about chernobyl, and its more realistic (as realistic as mutants and supernatural anomalies can get) and has more of a horror theme to it. It is lower budget though, so the graphics and voice acting aren't as good.

No, why?
nothing really, just got a really horrible gut feeling that you didn't.

anyway NecroVisioN is good if you found Doom3 aright but it's set in WW1 and it has multi player (which I haven't tried)

Any strategy game or simulator will be pretty much guaranteed to be "pure PC gaming".

On that note, try and get the Russian version and then a translation. The English voice acting is pretty bad.

Um... sorry to argue, but most of those are games best suited for console gaming.

Supreme Commander 2 is terrible compared to the first game. I can't think of a better way to describe it than the noobiest RTS I've ever seen. Don't get it. Also, Dawn of War 2 is great. So is Dawn of War 1, which I like even more.

TrackMania United (or Nations) is well worth tracking down if you like your racers. Also, I understand that Supreme Commander 1 trumps its sequel by quite a bit. Plus, the usual "Orange Box, anything by Blizzard, STALKER".
