SInce it's been out for about a day now. What do you think of the new team fortress 2 update so far? The weapons, doomsday, what they did with meet the pyro, or even the new source filmmaker. Anything you can think of.

The Rainblower is cool, though not enough to make me put my Degreaser on the backburner (zing!). I feel naked without that quick weapon switch. The new rocket launcher is a good defensive weapon, but leaves you too vulnerable to be a good assault choice. Haven't used the other new weapons yet.

The Scout ones seem pretty dumb with the damage they do to the class' mobility. I'll try them myself, but I can't see me forgoing my loadout (Scattergun, Mad Milk/Bonk/Winger depending on the need, and the Sandman) for them.

As for the new mode: Not a fan. It's a clusterfuck. It's weird because it combines my favorite game mode (Capture the Flag) with my least favorite (Payload). I'll only go to this game mode when a bunch of my friends are playing it instead of CTF, but most of those friends seem to also not like the Doomsday.

I love it for the most part. They maybe could have added more "new" items for the pyro other than a few reskins and 1 new flare gun though.

Also I hope that when everybody stops using pyro vision constantly that they make it so Rainblower/Lolichop are visible in normal TF2 and don't make you permanently stay in pyroland because I want the Rainblower/Lolichop to actually mean something after a few weeks.

It's good fun but more so annoying that the servers are straining under the pressure. I had to stop playing because I couldn't even use some of the new items. New weapons vary from useless to decent and pyrovision is good for a few laughs. The video itself was probably the best part of this update but new items are always welcome.

Yeah, same here. I did get some time in Doomsday early today before activity picked up for the day, but the item servers are still overwhelmed.

We've taken down our servers until we get a patch so our plugins can work with the new update. Ten minutes of having them up without the plugins: Porn sprays, hackers, and trolls EVERYWHERE.

I love the new Scattergun. Words can't express how much fun it was today to zip around Harvest while killing people and escaping before they even knew I was there. I felt like a true gangbanger. I'm also reminded of this video when I use that weapon:

Baby Face's Blaster has got to be my favorite weapon in the entire game. I am completely serious. Gotta Go Fast. I hope there's a glitch that can remove the speed cap with Crit-a-Cola.

Well as with all updates it broke many servers and in my server's case Sourcemod, so for a long time we were without roll the dice and admin powers.

As for the weapons, I think the pyro ones are pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to try the rest. One of my friends told me the new scattergun is useless. But right now I don't care because I'm loving the rainblower too much :D

Since no one's commented on it, I'll be the first I suppose.

I can not wait to get my hands on the Source Filmmaker. Honestly, it's reminding me of the Portal 2 level editor. It seems so stream-lined and simple yet so incredibly powerful.

I'm not sure who Valve's hired in the past few years, on the tech side of things, but they're bloody brilliant. This move towards offering powerful yet user-friendly tools to the community is one I wish more companies would do.

Also, I'm excited to see how real filmmakers use these tools. The studio that made "9" is already using them to make a new animated feature film, so I'm curious where else this toolset will show up.

If I hear the word "Austrailium" one more time... Say good bye to your knee caps, chucklehead.
Nonetheless, I like it, especially Pyrovision--instead of desert, it's rainbows and cotton candy. As for the items themselves, the sniper's rifle is annoying (I just die to it often :I), and the other items are rather fair, though the pyro's new weapons only put him in pyroland, which means they are just a cosmetic than an actual weapon change. Chasing after the unicorn for the achievement is fun, nonetheless.
As for the weapons themselves, I got the lolichop (Rake is better) and the sniper rifle (And my comp lags too much that sniping is inert [Though I already find it boring]). I wish I could connect to the item server...

And let us all take a moment to mourn the passing of Poopy Joe--may his constant sacrifice never be in vain.

I really like what this update has offered. Pyroland is a pretty wonderful place. It's both funny and disturbing how people laugh when I burn them to death there.

I haven't really got to try out the new weapons yet besides the Lolichop. That Rainblower looks like it's so much fun to use...

Don't worry. Community is making good use of it

As for the update only thing that i don't like was "happy" googles. They seriously creep me out with all the joy it is putting me through murder.

Doomsday isn't great, and I was pretty pissed off about getting nothing but crates from the piles of ash I made because the burned crate drop rate is TOO DAMN HIGH.

Some of the new weapons though are cool. The new scout weapons in particular I really like. Your mobility increases quite a bit with the new scattergun, and you get a real rush running around the maps kiting people. The new pistol is pretty cool as well, but there's too many people playing pyro at the moment to make it very useful. Haven't tried the sniper weapons yet. New soldier rocket launcher seems kind of OP though. I think that Valve will probably nerf it by removing random crits from that weapon.

Best thing about the update though? PYROVISION.

THE COLOURS. Gleeeeeee.

...What that's all I have to say on the matter, I'm sorry. I offer a complimentary bag of empty.
The Film-maker on the other hand, just fills me with so much verbal diarrhea that I don't even want to get started. It's good diarrhea though. Very very good. Like all you ate the previous day was cake frosting and chocolate sprinkles and pooped out a perfect cake. No one knows how and all will marvel.

Got the Rainblower from my first ever pile of ash, crafted the new flaregun with the knockback and AoE, got the lolichop, a second Rainblower and a hat from crates and looted Vintage Pyrovison all in about 30 minutes of each other.
After all these years, I still had never looted or crafted a new flamethrower for the pyro and have been using stock. The Pyro is my least played class but that may change as I'm having a blast killing folks with rainbows and lollipops.
I agree on the poster above that said he wants for the new pyro weapons visible outside of Pyroland but I'm pretty pleased for now.
Also, the Meet the Pyro video was better than I could ever have imagined and I signed up for the Filmmaker beta. Looking forward to having a go with that fantastic piece of software.

Weapons are good (at least the shotgun I got my hands on)

special delivery is fun when your team doesn't consist of 8 pyros

happy land weapons are gonna disappear after a week or so

the crates are annoying because I don't have money to buy keys for them

item drops are nonexistent for me now except I get a bunch of L'etrnager's

last but not least TOO MANY PYROS

A spare Rainblower, eh? Any chance you would...you know...be willing to part with it? :)

As a side note, I'm absolutely loving the new Scout weapons. Especially that pistol. I would not be surprised if it got a debuff in the near future.

What we all expected from Meet the Pyro: "heh, heh, oh, I just LOVE to burn stuff! Burn, char, enkindle, ignitescorchSEARINCINERATE!!!"

What we got from Meet the Pyro: "OHMYGOD RAINBOWS AND CANDY AND BABIES EVERYWHERE!"

What I was thinking after watching Meet the Pyro: "Well...that's terrifying."

What I was like after getting my hands on the Rainblower: "FSCK YEAH RAINBOW POWER! COME ON, BALLOONICORN, WE'RE GONNA GO SPREAD THE BUBBLY RAINBOW POWER ALL OVER BLU BASE!!!"

It makes me a very happy man for reasons I cannot fathom, though I'd hazard a guess that it's inherently amusing to be using a gun that shoots rainbows in a game that features decapitation and dismemberment.
