Well... i mean, are we surprised? Most TV writers are geeks. I thought this was known. I mean this SPECIFIC reference is surprising but geeky ones aren't.

Oh a 13 year old Pc game. There's no way that can be any way disappointing. And is there something wrong with preferring consoles?

I feel you're being intentionally obtuse and trollish.

Especially considering you joined the escapist when they had an article released about SCII just about every day cuz it came out that month.

I'm not being obtuse or trollish. If you don't have a 3DS and find the 3DS a bit awkward, would you eat up all the news about a big upcoming 3DS game? I honestly never played Starcraft, or read anything on Starcraft 2. I won't play a 13 year old game that, after researching, people LOVED IMMENSELY because I feel like it would be nothing but a let down.

I appreciated Ryan's costume way more. Some office fans will know who it is!

"Big Bang Theory is basically one long slow nod to nerddom."
Yeah, it's a nod. It just looks at nerds, takes in a few of the anti-social and science details about them, and then tries to emulate them for laughs.
I remember someone describing it as 'Nerd Black-Face' once, and that was a pretty apt description.

Kerrigan! D: You really let yourself go!

Gotta lay off those firebats girl! I know theyre tasty and come in a convenient can, but if they were good for you, they wouldnt be so delicious!

Great episode of the office though. I normally dont care for it, but this one made my day.

This, it has its moments (the nerdy jokes can get genuinely clever or esoteric at times), but it just doesn't ring true for me and at the core its just a mediocre sitcom.

Community on the other hand exults in its geekery more unapologetically than any other show I've seen - hell there can't be many shows with a bolded warning on TV tropes to take specific episode examples to seperate pages [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Community].

Never been giving American Office a chance. Loving the British series and not being a Steve Carell fan, in my mind, it represented what's wrong with american TV, but maybe I'm gonna give it a chance if I'm ever in need of a new sitcom
I was like you, I avoided the American office for a long time based on the old "It will never be the 'proper' office" and it isn't not by a long shot. Sadly the first season seems to be trying desperately to capture the tone of the original series and fails badly.

But as season 2 and the other's wear on it sort of becomes its own thing that is funny in its own way. Once past season 1 you will see there is some real comedic talent both in the cast and the writing. It's a really great show, but don't hold it against the original, it will just set you up for dissapointment. That might be why I liked season 1 so little :S.
