Well... i mean, are we surprised? Most TV writers are geeks. I thought this was known. I mean this SPECIFIC reference is surprising but geeky ones aren't.

I'm not being obtuse or trollish. If you don't have a 3DS and find the 3DS a bit awkward, would you eat up all the news about a big upcoming 3DS game? I honestly never played Starcraft, or read anything on Starcraft 2. I won't play a 13 year old game that, after researching, people LOVED IMMENSELY because I feel like it would be nothing but a let down.ace_of_something said:I feel you're being intentionally obtuse and trollish.Thomas Guy said:Oh a 13 year old Pc game. Especially considering you joined the escapist when they had an article released about SCII just about every day cuz it came out that month.
Tom Chick used to play a minor character on the Office.ace_of_something said:Well... i mean, are we surprised? Most TV writers are geeks. I thought this was known. I mean this SPECIFIC reference is surprising but geeky ones aren't.
This, it has its moments (the nerdy jokes can get genuinely clever or esoteric at times), but it just doesn't ring true for me and at the core its just a mediocre sitcom.ultimateownage said:"Big Bang Theory is basically one long slow nod to nerddom."
Yeah, it's a nod. It just looks at nerds, takes in a few of the anti-social and science details about them, and then tries to emulate them for laughs.
I remember someone describing it as 'Nerd Black-Face' once, and that was a pretty apt description.
I was like you, I avoided the American office for a long time based on the old "It will never be the 'proper' office" and it isn't not by a long shot. Sadly the first season seems to be trying desperately to capture the tone of the original series and fails badly.Varya said:Never been giving American Office a chance. Loving the British series and not being a Steve Carell fan, in my mind, it represented what's wrong with american TV, but maybe I'm gonna give it a chance if I'm ever in need of a new sitcom
