Question about 360 hard drives

I search barred this and didn't find anything...

I am thinking about getting a hard drive for my 360 but am frightened about the cost factor, so I was hoping to use a larger/cheaper external drive. Will the 360 let me save games on... say, a 1 TB drive not designed for the 360? If it does will there be any negative aspects to doing so?

second hand hard drives aren't that expense are you in the UK if so find your nearest CEX store and buy the 120gb for £40 there

Well I got me a nice fast 1TB F3 from samsung for ~90$. Thats after the 25% VAT ofcourse.

But thats for the mighty PC. Cant help you with your lowly xbox.
