We all have a favourite accent from some particular country. We can hear different accents from almost every country when they speak English or their own language. We can pick and choose which ones sound good to us and which ones don't.

So I have a question for those of you who's first language was NOT English. What does it sound like when foreigners speak your language? Do you have a favourite accent from a particular area or country when they speak it? Does it even sound good to you at all? This is just something I've been wondering recently.

I rarely hear foreigners speak Croatian but they usually have trouble with choosing one of three genders and especially with the noun declination which many languages don't have (if you studied Latin, you know what I'm talking about). I like the Albanian accent, it sounds funny.

I've never knowingly heard a non-Chinese person speak Cantonese in a deliberate attempt to seriously communicate. The BS stupid noise making, plenty of it when I was in grade-school etc., but never anywhere else... it's just too difficult a language to learn unless you're born to it.

Still, when Singaporeans speak Cantonese, I struggle not to laugh...

Well... I cannot really say that I have a favorite accent for speaking Swedish. I guess people from Skåne can speak somewhat good swedish... Swedish with British accent just sounds weird.

I'm British, and learned the obligatory tiny amount of french. The first teacher I had was actually french, and told me I went into a convincing accent when I spoke it. :D
