Question about dating...

Obviously I can't speak for all girls, but as a girl I'd say:

If she likes you already, she's not going to give much of a crap how you ask her out (so long as you don't, yehknow, punch her in the face or something while doing it). And if she doesn't like you already, the way you ask her out isn't going to make much of a difference to her feelings about you.

So just relax and do it. The only preparation is that you should probably think of somewhere to suggest you go to. You could ask if she'd like to go for coffee? dinner? a drink? and have a place in mind for whichever of the above she chooses. (This is me assuming you don't know her well enough to know which of the above she'd be most comfortable with on a first date.)

I know she is something of an artist and she is studying English. Beyond that, I don't know anything. Lol

So, yeah, try "a drink" or "a coffee"... but had an activity or something... because if you're that uncomfortable, it won't works just drinking and talking ... So, something like pool or snooker (it's easy, even if your bad, it's fun, and it's easy to flirt during that activity).

Don't be afraid that she might say "no" and everything will go just fine !

I advise you keep it simple and arrange it so you get a chance to talk and see how you match up, before you assume any big life plans with her.

Probably not. I know more or less what I should/can do. I just wanted some insight from others to make sure I wasn't over or under thinking it. Which it appears I was not.

I think the reasons why people ask those questions on the Escapist is because, theoretically, we're kins . We're "gamers" in the broadest sense And we all have been, at least once in our life, feeling like a loser just because of what we like or dislike. Perhaps his friends are less empathic since they do have a girlfriend... or worst, they don't have any, so they can't help him Or perhaps he wants A LOT of different opinions

It's not going to make us think "d'awww, this guy's down to earth and easy going, I want to hear what he has to say!" It makes you sound like one of those particularly cringeworthy internet ad banners that tries to sound like a real person. It's either "lol" or "oh, look at this weird tip! Weird! Look, we're acknowledging said tip is strange, so we're totally being honest!"

Just remember that what your looking to do is completely normal. Set up a time for some coffee and be prepared to talk. An extra activity isn't really going to help you if you can't break the ice with her. I imagine it'd just make things awkward when you miss your cues to flirt....

It might help to keep in mind that your both Uni students, that itself is a good indicator that your both working towards similar goals....don't have to worry about being 'outclassed' in the least....hehe.....Just be ready to talk, easy as just finding out what her interests are, sharing yours when/if she finishes talking about herself. No checklist or formulas, just find out if she's worth going out with on following dates.

Yeah, seriously, just say something like "Hey, would you want to get coffee with me after class today?" or something along those lines. Something low-pressure. And say an exact time because if you say "sometime," it's easy for it to fall by the wayside. Good luck!

Lol this is great advice but the use of the word safe and especially within quotes makes it sound so very sinister.
