Question about Dead Space

So upon starting my second playthrough I remebed a couple of the crewmembers, specifically the woman who gives you the gravity device thing, are blindfolded and apear to perhaps have their eyes removed or have jsut been blinded

So I can;t remember if there was a reason for this, I'm guess it was to stop themselfs becomeing the monsters (I guess your not a very good monster if you can't see)

so yeah any other theories?

I'm guessing they went mad and tore out their own eyes so they wouldn't have to see all the horrible things that were going on.

Because those Necromorphs were uuuuuuuuugly.

Those people were craaaaaaazy.

I wouldnt be suprised if they stabbed themselves in the eyes just for the hell of it, or as someone above said to not have to see the really really bad stuff going on.

Early in the game, the chick who gives you the gravity device is blindfolded, she talks to a corpse then says somthing along the lines of "I knew you were coming..." drops the device on the floor and dies

theres another woman later who I'm pretty sure was blind folded, she laughes crazyly and then shoots herself in the head

It was scary. somewhat....

The people who are blind-folded but have a hole in their head have been impaled by the mad Dr.Mercer so that they can turn necro quicker.

To be fair they got corpse-napped either way. So who knows?

Although the lady with the gravity gun was fairly memorable.

Hey, it's Scarefest at Alton Towers soon (A nearby theme park), maybe I'll claw my eyes out in an attempt to be creepy.
I think they're looking for an in-fiction reason. 'An attempt at creepiness' isn't what I would call a worthwhile response.
