Before I got to the ferry and accepted the quest I teamed up with a Brotherhood of steel Paladin I can't remember the name of.
The ferryman said he didn't do group trips and that she had to stay behind. So my question is:
Will I be able to team up with her again once I complete the quest and return to the citadel?

Due to the rather buggy and unpredictable nature of this game I can?t say with absolute certainty but yes, yes you can leave her behind and when you?ve finished Point Lookout, you can go back and find Paladin Cross.

Any of the Fallout 3 DLC that takes place outside the Capital Wasteland (P. Lookout, The Pitt, Op Anchor, Mother Zetha) won?t allow you to take a companion on your adventure. Simply fire Paladin Cross before you get on the ferry and when you back to the capital wasteland and then citadel, you can re-recruit her ? but be warned, Cross only responds to players who have an above-average karma level. If you?re planning on being a baddie in Point Lookout, I?d recommend hooking up with Jericho or someone else when you get back.

Yup. Too bad, too. Point Lookout is the DLC that has the toughest fucking enemies, they give the Feral Ghoul Reaper a run for its money. Manual save alot! The game crashes occasionally.

Yup. Just run back the spot where you got her, and she'll be there, you won't have to repay her or redo anything.

This applies to all companions -- Dogmeat, Clover, RL-3, Fawkes, etc.
