Question about Fallout 3's GOTY edition

I own the standard Fallout 3 for the PS3, no DLC. I can buy the GOTY edition in retail for 30 euros, if I bought the DLC separately on PSN, it would cost 50 euros total (strange how buying the game again is actually cheaper than downloading all the DLC eh?). My first question is, is the DLC worth it? My second question is if the save files of my standard Fallout 3 is compatible with the GOTY version. Thanks in advance!

And for discussion's sake, have you ever bought a different version of a game you already own? I did, with the Special Edition of DMC 3, it was pretty cheap, so I picked it up.

I bought Batman:GOTY edition even though I own the game because it was 3D.
And I'm pretty sure you can use the saves on the GOTY edition. My friend could with Oblivion.

Yes, the DLC is worth it.

Bethesda is the only dev to do good value DLC so far, in my opinion.

The Pitt, Point Lookout and Broken Steel are all great, Anchorage is OK, but Mothership Zeta is a boring grind.

It's worth it. I wish I bought the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 rather than the regular game THEN the DLC.

Though apprently the GOTY edition has a few bugs in it. Don't quote me on that, just be aware.

You are correct.

I've been on The Vault (Fallout's Wiki) quite often and have seen "The PS3 GOTY edition has a glitch..." at least fifteen times on the various pages I've visited on it.

I'd be happy to post a link to each article, but my obsession with Fallout 3 has died down and you could probably find them just as easily by going to the wiki and browsing random pages.

Be wary if you're still thinking about going for the PS3 GOTY edition. The extra 20 euros just may be worth spending if you can avoid some glitches.

Extra 20 euros? I have to pay 20 euros LESS. Are the bugs only in the new gameplay segments or also in the old ones?

Sorry, I meant extra euros to get the DLC seperately plus the standard edition. I should have clarified that, my bad.

In the last link, one of the posts says:
To be fair, the PS3 version of the game (with DLCs) is extremely bugged and almost unplayable, which is obviously very frustrating. However, the vanilla version works perfectly fine.

I loved the F3 DLC. Especially Mothership Zeta.

Nothing beats running around the F3 world with laser/ray guns (proper laser guns, not the stupid shit they put in the game to begin with.)

You liked Mothership Zeta? You're the first person I've seen. Personally, I hated it, and I hate that I can't get the Alien Blaster without starting it, I'm this close to deleting it from my hard drive for that reason.

Point Lookout is a little bit over-rated to me, but it's certainly better than Anchorage and Zeta (although I do like Anchorage). Besides that, I agree completely.

Actually, you aren't correct.

All of the glitches in the GOTY are in base Fallout 3. The GOTY introduces no new glitches.

In addition, most of the glitch articles are crap. I should know, I'm an admin at the Vault.

If you can, get it on the PC, it's much more stable on there. I remember reading a topic that pointed to the PS3's memory cache not clearing properly when reloading a save that caused a lot of it. Can't find the link though, sorry.

So are the glitches in the base game or not? Because to be honest, I didn't find that many glitches. During my 100+ hours (I think) it only crashed twice.

Well, I certainly didn't expect this. XD

Thank you for clearing this up. I don't own the PS3 version myself so I was going by what I've read.

You could probably find mods on the F3 Nexus that drop those weapons somewhere in the world. As for why I like it: I think its a nice change from the usual grey/greenish tingey wasteland and rather comical.

Point Lookout was pretty fun too. I was pretty immersed with that DLC. Ancorage was alright at the start, but then once you got out of the stealthy bit, it just got too boring.

Definitely worth it especially broken steel for the higher level cap and the ability to actually continue the game as long as you want

Unfortunately, I'm playing on the 360 version of the game.

And I just thought that it dragged on and on for no reason. Hell, even Anchorage had a plot.

In all honesty I didn't find that many crashes etc until i installed point lookout and mothership zeta, there were a couple of times when it would freeze but in lookout it would crash out on me almost every 5-10 minutes, it really ruined the game in my opinion.

The PS3 version is apparently the most buggy of the lot and (as is being debated on here in another topic) i'm pretty sure I read that Bethesda had stopped supporting the PS3 version of the game, the only problem is I now can't find where the hell i read it.

The PS3 version does have a few "interesting" bugs (I thought it had killed my PS3 at one point - the damn thing just wouldn not turn on after it had crashed)

Other than that, it's awesome, and I love it immensly.
